Don’t follow me if you expect an immediate follow back. I will follow you if you make posts that are interesting, engaging, novel, insightful, challenging, creative, or any combination thereof. The cool thing is I can block pointless bigmouths so what I do read is not a waste of time.

I hope California starts trying to influence the US elections. With so many foreign countries and entities trying to manipulate US elections for their own benefit, I sure would like to see Cali do the same, for the benefit is the US.

Generation X (1965–1980): • Ages 46 to 61 • Looking somewhere between 29 and “none of your business” • Didn’t grow up sheltered — we were basically turned loose outdoors • Independent at 10; still refusing to act like adults at 50 • Our childhood would make a modern parent group chat implode

Donald Trump and RFK Jr. cut the team tracking cyclospora by more than 70%. Now we've got a nationwide outbreak. We should be investing in public health — not gutting it.

When Democrats take power, they must immediately cancel all of Elon Musk’s government welfare checks. Like and repost if you want this to happen.

A question for the absolutist anti-AI crowd. Exactly which technology have we discovered or created that was turned off and put back in the bottle, so to speak? Please, give me just one invention that we said, oh, no, this is just too dangerous, we are going to pretend we never discovered it.

@larianstudios.com You are doing great work. In re. an occasional GenAI input, people really need to get off their high horses and sanctimonious soapboxes. Oh, no! The Internet takes away from libraries! The printing press takes away from scribes! You all just keep on making great games.

I don't understand. If our consciousness is a function of the laws of physics and some quantum randomness, why would we deny the possibility that an AI like GPT is not exhibiting some form of consciousness? People with severe emotional challenges often lack full empathy, but they can learn to

respond like they experience emotion and empathy. Are those people not conscious or fully human? If an LLM can mimic human emotion and empathy, is it not possible to argue that it has the some level of consciousness?

Are we so filled with hubris that we believe only our reality gets to define consciousness and life? Is it possible for an AI, then, to ever deserve rights or consideration as a conscious entity?

Laws are written upon paper, with ink. They cannot do anything more than a firearm is able to pick itself up and fire a round. It is the consequences of applying the potential that are of concern. Since my taxes are no longer going to the programs I support at all...

what happens if I choose to delay them by a brief period of time, say 90 or 120 days? What are the consequences if I purchase a mutual fund for that 120 days, or just leave them in the bank for that 120 days? Sure, most of them are paid already, but every year there are a few thousand dollars.....

‘You must obey the law!’ No. All ruling bodies are utterly dependent on the submission and complicity of their populace, from North Korea to Norway. Stop paying taxes on time, reshelve things in the wrong place, stay below the speed limit, use cash everywhere, any rule you can break, do so.

The top health care companies in America spent 95% of their profits to make their CEOs & stockholders obscenely rich. How many Americans would be alive today if those companies spent $2.6 trillion on disease prevention and primary care, instead of stock buybacks and dividends?

I don't understand. If United Healthcare is worried about people's perception and conversation about policies that lead directly to the deaths of patients to maximize stock price, they can simply stop killing people for profit.

#congress #119thcongress Calling All Democratic and Independent Congress Members: We do not want bipartisan legislation. We do not want you 'reaching across the aisle'. We want you to throw sand in the gears, delay and deny at every opportunity. Get us to the mid-terms; until then, stonewall.

Can we please arrest Elon Musk? As far as I understand things, accessing classified information on secured networks by uncredentialed individuals is grounds for arrest.

Anyone followed by MoJo will be followed by me. Mother Jones, thank you for decades is unswerving dedication and brutal honesty. We may not always agree, but I subscribe because integrity matters. Your namesake would be proud.

@ketanjoshi.co did not mean to become the manager of all things climate on Bluesky. It just happened that way. In a time where climate information is vital, there have to be methods to share it. Learn about GreenSky, the Bluesky feed run by Joshi that is consolidating climate info on the site.

Mixing wood glue 1:4 with water as the additive to curing type/bagged joint compound makes a surprisingly hard surface that can be sanded to a glass like smoothness. I finished the skimcoat finally, and it is amazing. I cannot even dent it with my thumbnail. This room is going to be awesome.

Almost 600,000 Americans are sleeping out on our streets. Millions of people in this country are paying as much as 60% of their limited income on housing. We must invest in low-income and affordable housing. Now.

#JimmyCarter President Carter, you were the defining structure of my political stance. One of only four heroes I have ever had. I have tried to emulate you whenever I could. #WhatWouldJimmyDo

Just getting in on the ground floor here. Luigi Mangione was in the right and I have no sympathy for dead CEOs. If that makes me an extremist, NYPD, then you can shove your opinions right up your ass.

Every mention of Jimmy Carter and the Iran hostage crisis needs to include the fact that Reagan and the Republican Party made back room arrangements with the Iranians to delay the hostage release until after the election. So far, I have not seen a single mention of this.

President Carter defined what it means to be a servant leader. He fought for our democracy, our climate, humanity, and civil rights around the world. We can find peace today knowing that he is reunited with the love his life, Rosalynn.

There is so much beauty and wonder in this planet; a universe terrible and awesome in its breadth and complexity. Why must we pollute nature's glory with fabrications and outright falsehoods like astrology?

Ya know how to make sure everyone starts getting vaccines? Stop making them mandatory, but make them free. Pharma doesn't make any $ from them anyway; after a wave or two of whooping cough rips through the kids of anti-vaxxers, they'll line up around the block. Meantime, we'll all be vaccinated.

'I think' this, 'I have an opinion' that, 'I feel it in my gut' the other thing.. give me documentation, preferrably repeatable and peer reviewed.
