Americans were upset about inflation, so they threw out the leaders who oversaw slowing inflation, opted for a candidate promising to raise prices faster, and got what they voted for.

Curious timing with the rest of the world readying to end their Starlink dependence or even ban it outright in response to Musk/Trump using it to knife Ukraine in the back.

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

Rich serial liar said words! The job of the free press is to uncritically repeat those words in headlines, and spread them widely for free.

If there’s anyone who deserves to say “told you so” it’s HRC.

Hillary Rodham Clinton@hillaryclinton.bsky.social

Ten years ago today. In just the last few days: Trump made a deal for the U.S. to buy Russian diesel, an economic lifeline for Putin; he and Elon Musk blamed each other for an order that slowed down Starlink satellite connectivity over Ukraine...

Holy shit. Every single Democrat: This is the message. This right here. This is the whole ass pitch the voters in the weeks before the election.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Ossoff: "It's the most corrupt administration of all time & everybody knows it. While the crook president & his crook family rake in billions from all over the world, you pay more for everything... they lied us into war & spent most of the last year covering up for the world's most famous pedophile"

Good questions, and more importantly *unanswered questions,* because it sure looks as if republicans support Putin.

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

The leader of the Republican Party supports murderous anti-American war criminal Vladimir Putin. Will Republican candidates be repeatedly asked if they denounce Putin? The Republican Party's biggest donor also boosts a German Neo-Nazi party. Will Republican candidates be asked if they denounce AfD?

I hope people are learning some things with what Musk and Zuckerberg are doing here. They’re enabling and helping facists. Get off Twitter and Facebook and Instagram.

Can't get numb to this: it’s still absolutely shocking, if totally unsurprising, that Trump is actively helping Russia and harming Ukraine.

FT exclusive: The US has proposed that European countries unfreeze some Russian sovereign assets immobilised after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and transfer them to a vehicle overseen by Washington in an attempt to revive peace talks www.ft.com/content/5435...

This what-a-weak-loser scoffing seems like a smart, effective response to JD Vance’s attempts at insults. At least if you can pull it off with a smooth confidence like El-Sayed does here.

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

El-Sayed: JD Vance called me a little weasel today. No, what you’re talking about is a fucking wolverine.

Looks like Trump’s setting up a pretext to seize control of the USPS’s ballot handling.

@marcelias.bsky.social @glennkirschner.bsky.social CHEATING HAS BEGUN. Remember Repulicans will call in bomb threats at polling area like before ( 200 last time ) Run out of Ballots, Move polling places etc. NOW we have this www.cnn.com/2026/10/14/p...

Here we go again with this bullshit… Just weeks before midterms, Trump is laying the groundwork to delegitimize our results. Trump & his allies have targeted CA for years, with investigations repeatedly failing to uncover noncitizen voting. It won’t work, California is ready! #TrumpsAbuseOfPower

Here’s to hoping Ukraine’s steel birds destroy the remainder of Russia’s data centers that run their bot farms.

Graham@redgremlin.bsky.social

If only we had known where all the bot farms were, we could have firewalled them…. Why didn’t we? Finally someone firewalled them.

This isn't a case of abusing some loophole or misusing discretionary authority. The law is unambiguous and he's breaking it, simple as that. If Congress isn't going to do anything about breaking the law that already exists, passing another law to make it double-illegal accomplishes nothing.

Seldon Crisis Log reposted

It's already illegal. Congress banned it near-unanimously in 2022. That law allows the ban to be lifted only if Russia withdraws from Ukraine. He's simply breaking the law that's already on the books.

David S. Bernstein @dbernstein.bsky.social

Republican US Rep Brian Fitzgerald tweets that he will introduce a bill to block purchases of Russian oil. Don Bacon (R-Neb) tweets that he will co-sponsor. Obviously this won’t happen during campaigning recess (and Trump could veto anyway) but interesting push-back on Trump.

The Saudis are learning what every contractor who's ever worked for Trump knows: He does not honor his deals or pay his bills.

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

Saudi Arabia is in big trouble, with their oil industry under attack from multiple directions. The Saudis spent years bribing Trump and Kushner. At first, it seemed like a good investment. But the Iran war screwed them, now they really need help, and the US can't/won't. Me, in @foreignpolicy.com:

Iran war advocates got exactly what they wanted. It just didn't work out how they imagined. For years, the argument for the US attacking Iran was that the regime was brittle, on the verge of collapse, and bombing would put them over the edge. That assumption was core to the case against JCPOA too.

LOWρUFO 🇺🇦🇵🇸🌍@lowrhoufo.bsky.social

The Iran war was not mismanaged. As much as Hegseth makes everything a farce, this is about as close to the best outcome without forcing 2-5m troops through Bandar Abbas. There was no "good" Iran war. People are either lying or being stupid

I think tearing down Trump's monstrosities, and scraping all that gold crap off the walls, would be healthy symbolism about recovering the country. In addition, fire all his appointees. He's the guy who wanted Schedule F - the next Dem POTUS should use it, then cancel Schedule F. But use it first.

For a certain kind of white man, there is no fear more primal than the fear that the people they have abused will gain power and treat them the same way.

If Biden had made that tweet he’d have been impeached, convicted, and forcibly removed within 24hrs. On Fox News heads would have exploded. Hunter would have been arrested and still in prison. But this tweet won’t even affect Trump’s approval number.

Probably just another empty nuclear threat but the timing with Ratcliff’s Moscow trip is a bit disturbing. If Putin nukes Ukraine then jealousy would motivate Trump to do likewise in Iran. As a malignant narcissist he’s always lusted for thrill of wreaking nuclear death and destruction.

I’m keeping an eye on how hard NYT, WaPo, WSJ and AP are avoiding writing about Jon Ossoff’s compelling, fact-based, hugely popular critique of Trump’s corruption, ineptitude, and venality. So far: Very hard. (Next, they’ll Mamdani him.)
