Update from @@transactualuk.bsky.social on yesterday's farce: transactual.org.uk/blog/2025/06...
This is a beautifully written account of a tragic event, and I recommend it to all my writer friends. The subject meets at the crossroads of folklore and mental health, both of which are current obsessions for me. A small tangential🧵 inspired by it. 1/11
In the 19th Century, Coalbrookdale was often described as ‘Hell On Earth’ due to the impact of Industrialisation. Perhaps it was this environment that contributed to tragedy below. All I know is that William Maybury deserves to be remembered. nearlyknowledgeablehistory.blogspot.com/2022/03/a-co...

In particular; family curses, repetition of history, Jungian archetypes - i.e. folklore meets mental health. My personal issues stem from abuse-related PTSD and, as a trans woman, the 'modern world' mentioned in @g0blinegg.bsky.social 's is something that resonates even now. 3/11

VOD now available! Catch up on our panel with @slovenlytrulls.com from @ukge.bsky.social. The message from our panel was clear: women are in this space, in this industry, and we are changing the game! Thank you to all of our amazing panelists and our fabulous host, Lyssa. youtu.be/wzJtLIxrHKU?...

Deep Blue is 30 years old and was capable of defeating chess grand champions. It could be housed in a single cabinet. ChatGPT spans untold data centers devouring massive amounts of electricity and it got its ass whipped by an 8 bit gaming console from the 1970s.

🧵 I generally really like The Mary Sue, but I really really dislike the way this article frames that we should "respect" Nick Frost for acknowledging JK Rowling's transphobia and simply saying we should "sit with the discomfort" for NUMEROUS reasons 1/? www.themarysue.com/they-just-do...

If you're a British trans person or ally I really think you MUST fill in the EHRC consultation on whether to segregate trans people from society If you need a hand doing that, @notrightruth.bsky.social and I will be doing a respond together live stream Tuesday 8pm! www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wfw...
It was so lovely to meet you properly @jessjewell.bsky.social ignore @iamloufryer.bsky.social I'm not that great, they were just drunk 😏
Really important that we all make a noise about this. There were some really dubious decisions (press passes being revoked @damselsdnd.bsky.social being refused a performance slot). Rumours abound that AI was behind the decision process. If it wasn't, we need a definitive statement confirming this!
I think by now we all know I had a wonderful time at #ukge2025. That said, there WAS something that really disappointed me, that I think is important to highlight - the use of AI. It wasn't prevalent, but I saw AI art on a number of stands for board games, TTRPGs, and gaming tools alike... 🧵

Someone in one of my Discord servers shared this zine by Ruth Pearce, "But What Can I Do?": How to Fight the Trans Panic. It's UK specific but if you're in the US I still highly recommend giving it a read and printing out a few copies. ruthpearce.net/2025/05/26/p...

better yet, consider unsubscribing from HBO/Max the week before her show comes out (& if you rejoin, wait until the HP season is over). it's not enough to *not* watch it – HBO needs to know it will hurt their bottom line if they continue producing it
if you care about trans people, do not watch the new jk rowling show. don’t even hate watch it or you will be funding this new intentionally transphobic organization. we cannot allow hateful people take away more of our rights
@masquewren.bsky.social is our 'masked hero' X4 and deserves to be healthy for the rest of the year. Efforts were made ♥️

Germany’s recent UBI trial showed, once again, that giving people an unconditional monthly income improves mental well-being, stress levels, sleep, and overall life satisfaction — all without reducing working hours. The myth that ‘free money’ turns people into couch potatoes simply isn't true.
