Idk, if we factor in Rolo’s Basilisk, this feels neutral value? Like, idk; is it a gain if you get out of purgatory a century faster but the ai overlord tortures your digital identical copy for an extra century in return?

Here's Lula celebrating tonight with Erika Hilton, a transgender politician who led the drive to end the six-day work week in Brazil. Erika showed workers solidarity, they showed her solidarity back. Solidarity is how fascism loses.

“Democrats have to join Republicans in saying awful things about trans people to win in red and purple states” Citation?

There’re strong reasons that transmascs may narrate their childhoods vis a vis the sex system differently from trans women; at the same time I do think a lot of calls to things like afab solidarity or universal suffering of womanhood exist to elide class and race as much as to keep trans women out.

We saw this a lot in the second wave too, where many of the most virulently anti-trans voices were those who may have had reason to feel insecure around their own belonging to various parts of the women’s movement. It’s an argument that simultaneously creates an other and ties oneself to the group.

Beyond abhorrent. He had a sexual relationship with a fellowship mentee whose career he could massively influence, she reported him anonymously to the University and several other accusers came forward. And now she is being fined 6 million.

A Massachusetts jury has awarded biologist David Sabatini $6 million—plus interest—in damages in his defamation case against Kristin Knouse, a former colleague at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. Read more: https://scim.ag/4zMbBXV

It’s also worth noting that socialization isn’t a single discretely bounded theory or process! Different disciplines spend a lot of time investigating it in different ways! You can’t just go “socialization!” like that necessarily produces a single deterministic outcome!!!

Since it is a day with a Y in it people are talking about bathroom bans not being important again and here we go:

Anarchy Goose@anarchygoose.northsky.social

So I'm just blocking this shithead and I know my followers don't need to hear this but I worry wider liberals find this kind of argument convincing and this is what they think it is all about so I'm going to break it down. Bathroom bills aren't just about 'getting to use your choice of bathroom'.

"there's no ethical consumption under capitalism" really serves more as an excusatory framework for some people than it does as an explanatory framework for the limitations of personal choice.

Life has been kind of rough for a couple of months. Lost one of my jobs and the new job i got to replace it isn't paying as much. Little behind on rent and playing catch up. If anybody can help me out it'd be much appreciated. I think $600 will be enough. www.paypal.me/FallenPrinceA

Please remember that for every VE Schwab and Stephen King, there are a lot of banned Black, queer, and POC writers you've never heard of, to whom it is maybe not a badge of honor but a denial of their voice. Being banned is not a marketing opportunity, unless one is already rich.

it was smart of jacob geller to only post about what he did to his 50k followers on here instead of to his 1.5 million youtube subs or on his patreon. that way fewer people know about it and he limits the financial hit

Finished A Little Vice by @shadell.itch.io 5/5 Read. Much like Magica Riot, it takes heavily from the brighter side of magical girl anime, delivering a story that leaves you wanting to give C a hug throughout. The Saints are great, but the problem with them is that they don't /get/ what C was-

Finally got this section of Carve in a state where it's almost ready to go! Ideally new chapters start again this Friday, but unless I decide I hate everything and need to revisit the draft again, definitely next at the latest.

Learning the dude who apparently started the genderbent Malfoy trend declared “I drew this (highschooler) to make guys yearn again” and has a timeline replete with blatant homophobia and horny art of 14 year old anime girls is… Honestly a little too on the nose.

Chiitan loves transgender people 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Even a plain statement like this now brings slander and insults, but I think a society where people can live happily as themselves matters more than silence, so I will keep saying it until the account is gone. love everyone🤍

I believe very strongly in rehabilitative justice. But! If your first impulse to a prominent dude, or artist you like, getting accused of rape is to make a laundry list of reasons they should be forgiven, you’re not actually arguing for justice of any kind.

one of the reasons that I warn researchers away from adapting commercial LLMs into their pipeline is that Big Tech has a history of sunsetting popular, usable products and replacing them with worse ones. (i'm trying to ween myself off of google scholar, but it is hard).

To be clear this is writing from the Needle about Erin Reed; not Erin Reed’s writing since the deleted context can kinda obscure that/

i don't believe this got enough attention: The Needle issued a retraction to an investigation from two weeks ago, following __EIGHT ERRORS__ that were uncaught before publication the single editor on the story was their "fiction and satire editor" (what the fuck? why?), who has stepped down god

Quote changes could easily be explained by shifts in what word processing was used, more technical writing might be driven by 1. Increasingly professional skills, 2. A focus on more technical issues, or several alternative causes.

The Needle (not Cross’s tbc) writing here is pure envy, wild speculation and misused stats. Again, that’s not exonerating per-say; I don’t have the specialized knowledge to judge the deeper claims, and the underlying statistical questions. But it’s very clear to me that neither does the Needle.

It’s, frankly, ludicrously irresponsible ‘journalism,’ and, given the sensitivity of the issue, the severity of the allegations and the lack of any expert involvement, imo boosting the story before validating the complicated, poorly chosen, statistical analyses is genuinely awful.

There’s a lot of analysis in this Gish-Gallup that could very easily have alternative causes. For instance, I used to use hyphens with spaces in some writing, then eventually memorized alt+0151 and stopped. That’s “AI” by these standards.
