“Any mention of civil rights, feminism or social reform [topics that are central to Woolf’s work] are usually classified as ‘social topics’ by [Facebook's] automatic system” and are filtered out." Meta bans ads for Virginia Woolf play in Spain www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Yup.

First Dolly, and now Tim Curry. It's been a shitty fucking week so far. #RIPTimCurry #RIPDolly

I don't post much about politics here, but waking up to find out @andyburnham.bsky.social had a resounding victory in Makerfield made me go 'Yay' for a potential change to Starmer but also makes me concerned for who we may now get as mayor in Manchester. #Makerfield #AndyBurnham #Manchester

i assume banning kids from social media will be accompanied by a huge investment in teen-friendly communtiy spaces (like youth clubs) and social activities? No? Huh.

This pretty much sums up Starmer’s attitude (and government policy) to everything

I'm on the train heading to London. Have wine, tea and sandwiches. Am currently writing drabbles - three so far. More to come. #amwriting #drabbles #creepy

Check out my latest trio of drabbles which were inspired by a visit to Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire. Also, you should read The Caged Angel by Taylor Swift - a deeply creepy story. #horror #amwriting #drabbles

Lol. Love it 😀 🖤🖤

It's been a bloody awful year for the Buffy fandom up to now. This one hurts. A LOT!! Thank you for making Giles such a beloved character, whether it was Rupert or Ripper staring out. #Buffy #Giles #RIPAnthonyHead

Happy Pride you fabulous people. #pridemonth #lgbtq

Yesterday was spent meeting up with the wonderful @simonandrewx.bsky.social, editing 10 drabbles to get down to 100 words to submit to the @horrortree.com, editing three longer fanfic pieces and an original story that I need to submit somewhere. Anywhere! Wine and ice cream was then had. Good day.

The best Ghostbuster and I will fight you about it

My excellent colleague @katiedd.bsky.social has just published this remarkable investigation into rampant book banning in a Greater Manchester secondary school library. 193 books including The Da Vinci Code, Twilight, White Teeth and 1984 Graphic Novel www.indexoncensorship.org/2026/03/scho...

I love being a 2nd class citizen who continually gets asked by station staff when passenger assist goes wrong - "did you book it?" No, of course I didn't book it. I figured my telepathic message to the station staff a minute before I arrived would work. Twats!! #passengerassist #trains #disabled

Chilling in Derby. Checked in at @premierinn.bsky.social Passenger assist lady at Derby station remembered me from last year, and that I was here for the @ghoststoryfest.bsky.social! I'm clearly memorable in some way or other 😄. I suspect it's the coloured hair. #hair #Derby ##ghoststoryfest

On the Derby train. Guy refusing to pay for extra upgrade cos his employer gave him standard discounted ticket for 3 hours time. Just been made to leave the train and also told to stop swearing. Always check tickets bought by your employer!! #trains

I am officially on holiday. Starting it with coffee, carrot cake and a large Gavi di Gavi at Carluccios in Manchester Piccadilly. Their carrot cake is the best. #holiday #carluccios #wineandcake

And I'm off. Heading to Derby for the @ghoststoryfest.bsky.social. Can't wait. Looking forward to seeing some familiar, and some not so familiar faces. I love this event. Hopefully will get a fair amount of writing done as well. #ghoststoryfest #amwriting

@alexdavis1981.bsky.social Booked my festival pass for the annual UK Ghost Story Festival in Derby. Usual problem of trying to decide which talks to go too, as I haven't managed to clone myself yet! 🙃 Roll on February! #ukghoststory #festival #Derby

I have signed up for the excursionist writing pledge at @gywo.bsky.social for 2026. That's a habit pledge to write 180 days in 2026. I managed to meet that pledge both this year, and last year. It really does help to keep on writing, and the spreadsheet is a thing of beauty. #amwriting #GYWO

Dystopian settings, if done right, are some of the most compelling in fiction. Here are 12 phenomenal dystopian TV shows everyone should watch.

So as I understand it this means: We're taking away all your support and services, & we won't let anyone from overseas come in & help support you either. And people thought the Tories were cruel. How did we end up returning to a Victorian government? Where rich people ruled to line their pockets?

8 December 1980, John Lennon was brutally murdered on the steps of the Dakota Building. I remember it like it was yesterday, mainly because it was the first time I'd ever seen my parents cry. Remembering him today brings my parents back to life. Rest in peace, John #johnlennon #thebeatles

Today’s announcement from Girlguiding to reverse their previous trans-inclusive policy will come as painful news for many families. We know GirlGuiding has worked for years to include trans girls and to offer them the same opportunities as their peers. #ForAllGirls

The stones are not only in constant conversation with each other, but with the land itself. We approach and catch them in the act of chatting. Just for a moment we feel we are intruding, feel we have broken an intimate spell. – Dr. K. Brophy #StandingStoneSunday

Emofest at Manchester Academy. Full circle. One of our first dates, too many years to remember, was to see the first iteration of Panic! At The Disco. Good times. #EmoFest #ManchesterAcademy

Winter is coming...

Today will be a writing day. And, of course, trying some more quality Croatian wine - which may help the writing process 😀 🙂 #amwriting #Croatianwine
