Thinking of taking an Uber? Maybe think again.
Uber just announced it will lay off 10% of its workforce, or around 3,300 workers. Last year, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi made $35M — 360 times his median employee's pay — and announced a $20B stock buyback program to further enrich shareholders and himself. Textbook corporate greed.

That’s exactly why we stopped counting on noblesse oblige and went with plain old taxes instead. You can’t build a stable society around rich people’s generosity. "The Chan-Zuckerbergs stopped funding social causes. 400 kids lost their school." www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...
So much gratitude and respect to these workers.
Workers are harvesting peaches that will later be canned. They work piece rate in crews of 8 workers earning $80 per container. They need to fill at least 15 containers for each worker to make enough money. The irritation caused by peach fuzz sometimes slows them down. #WeFeedYou
At this point, I’m a lot more worried about the U.S. having nuclear capability than Iran.
Sen. Graham: "I don't want people to think the site wasn't severely damaged or obliterated. It was. But having said that, I don't want people to think the problem is over because it's not. They're gonna keep trying [for a nuclear weapon] until they change their stated goal."
