It’s not sufficiently appreciated. Surveillance technology, specifically facial recognition, is one of the most dangerous technologies. It is fascist technology. It will be deployed by well meaning but ignorant people today for use by fascists tomorrow. People will die. It’s as simple as that.

How has a surveillance technology firm with deep roots in military intelligence, immigration enforcement and policing come to sit at the heart of Britain’s public health? 🔎 We reveal the full story in our podcast ⬇️🎧 https://goodlaw.social/1e69ba

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain. Donald Trump and his regime have committed at least 20 of those same offenses highlighted in yellow. #NoKings

The President has launched our nation and our great military into a war of choice, risking American lives and resources, ignoring American law, and endangering our allies and partners. It does nothing to help with the urgent problems here at home that Americans face every day.

Remember: Donald Trump created this crisis. He walked away from the Iran nuclear deal that was working, promising a "better deal." He didn't deliver. He escalated, abandoned real diplomacy, and has now led us into a conflict that puts us all at risk.

If you haven't been following the developments at Amazon Ring as closely as I have the last 7 years and you're wondering how we got to the current headlines that the doorbell cameras are "eyes for ICE" because of their Flock partnerships--read my report about shakeups at the company from last year.

On his first day in office, the Mayor of New York toured the crumbling apartment of one of his constituents. On his 348th day in office, the President of the United States shops for marble and onyx for a ballroom nobody wants.

You might say the semantic web is technical and totalizing whereas the meaningful web is contextual, plural, natural, human. To be most useful, LLMs must share our world model(s), our contexts, our grounding. And we can help them do that in neurosymbolic synergy with our supersoftware.

Semantic in semweb contexts --> the precise definition of words and their relationships within a specific language system; the objective technical aspects. Meaningful --> the overall significance and implications of something, often involving subjective (i.e. human) and contextual interpretation.

Alex de Waal has worked on humanitarian causes across the globe for over 40 years. “There is no case, over those four decades, of such minutely engineered, closely monitored, precisely designed mass starvation of a population as is happening in Gaza today.”

Among yesterday's arrestees is Deborah Hinton, an 81-year old retired magistrate with an OBE. That's Yvette Cooper's idea of a terrorist. Language has been turned on its head. The law has been turned on its head. Murdering children is righteous. Trying to stop it is terrorism.

AI-augmented software development is challenging. LLMs are producing technical debt and vulnerabilities at an unprecedented rate, else hitting productivity as engineers try to catch it all. @garymarcus.bsky.social would <cough> hint gently at a neurosymbolic resolution. So do we. recognitive.io

And there it is. Putin’s lifelong dream. After years of relentless Russian propaganda, now fully embraced by the American president and the world’s richest oligarch, millions of Americans are convinced that this is a good plan because Europe is an enemy and Putin is our friend.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.
