Overdue reading roundup from the past few months; with a side of cocktails and coffee. #booksky The Roland Orzabal book is my fave read of 2027 far; still thinking about it! "Welcome to Hyunam Dong Bookshop" (cozy), "The Golem of Brooklyn" (hilarious) & Lisa Lee's latest (educational & moving).

"Welcome to Your Life" had me from the jump with "Warning: This book contains astrology." : ) I never had a crush on Roland from Tear for Fears in the 80's, but now that he's a wizard with long flowing white locks continuing to prove his way with words? Well, YES! ; )

Happy to be getting some energy back to roam my beloved Prospect Park. Black & white adds to the spooky factor of a downed tree off the beaten path. Up extra early to beat the rain was worth it.

I had a sweet friend pass away yesterday: ~Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend But I always thought that I'd see you again~ James Taylor (Fire & Rain)

Back to work today. I want to try to hang on to the zen of this beautiful lotus flower from this past weekend. I think it looks like a painting and not a photo. Taken at Duke Gardens.

Big rain means big walk delayed. Here are a few happy bits from this past (birthday) week. Cocktail with flowers, sushi, walking in the waves and hike to a small waterfall.

Happy Birthday to me! Took the day off & I shall do whatever strikes my fancy today. (Seems I'm gravitating to the same things I enjoy on the weekends, like big park walks, maybe a walk on the beach and good meal/cocktail.) Eyes open for glimmers every day. Blew out my candle a few days early : )

Helloooo Friday! I have a 4 day weekend on the way : ) Just finished "Eat the Ones You Love" by Sarah Maria Griffin. It was a fun ride and I'm now giving my lush living room plants the side-eye. ; ) #booksky

Packed in maximum Saturday excursions despite the high pollen count (Oy!). A bit of art I've walked by dozens of times finally registered as a an interesting bit of "monkeying around". I admired shadows, coconut curry, proscecco and and a blackberry Bramble cocktail. Well done, me. ; )

I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Recent reads, accompanied by cocktails and Stella. Lots of vintage Science Fiction and one modern novel. Some new to me revelations about H.G. Wells holding abhorrent views about race & religion & more-(yikes) thanks to the Intro material. Yikes #Booksky #WaroftheWorlds #SpiderRobinson

Yesterday, August 13th was the 13 year anniversary of my move to NYC, so I had to mark the occasion. Living in Hell's Kitchen, Lincoln Center, Roosevelt Island, East Village and Brooklyn in that time has been quite the education. Cheers to the Big Apple~

Coffee cheers to us all on this first August Friday! August calendar flagging something I try to keep as a life tenet. We approach tomorrow's 8/8 Lion's Gate Portal, for those who fancy that type thing. :)

Happy things today! Up early for a Farmer's Market haul. Followed by another weekend beach jaunt to Brighton Beach & Coney Island. Lobster roll by the ocean again was peak happiness, as evidenced by my grin~

Saturday morning was for walking in the waves from Brighton Beach to Coney Island in perfect weather. Not even kidding, but a lobster roll at Paul's Daughter on the boardwalk had me blissed out!

Wonky Tuesday has me thinking fondly of this past weekends cocktails when we visited the new Wolf Pup Bar in Brooklyn. I had so much fun drinking out of the the fish glass, while my partner in crime had whiskey & ice cream out of a boot, lol. : )
