South Carolina with a walk off FG to beat Tennessee 27-24. Vols bungle a 4th down that gave the Gamecocks life as they score the tying TD and force a fumble to set up the winning field goal. Too many penalties at inopportune moments. Vols gotta dust themselves off during the bye week.

Tennessee leads South Carolina 21-17 at the half. Vols bounce back nicely from a 14-0 hole early. That TD before the half was nice. Tennessee needs to keep Sellers contained on defense and keep pounding away on offense.

Shibley’s Pick: The letdown alert should be in effect. Look at what has been happening across the SEC. Plus, strange things seem to happen to Tennessee at South Carolina just like it does at Arkansas. The good news is defense travels and the Vols have that in spades. TENNESSEE 23 SOUTH CAROLINA 13

I knew Ramaswamy was a garbage human back in 2024. This gubernatorial campaign makes him look even worse and this latest ad is a whole new level of garbage and shame. I hope all my Ohio friends vote for Amy Acton.

Tennessee leads Alabama 12-10 at the half. Vols keep making inroads but cannot get into the checkerboards. Defense and crowd are all in, offense has to get going. Both teams have been better in the second half so let’s see what happens.

Shibley’s Pick: The wins against Auburn and Arkansas did not give me a good feeling about the offense for this game. Alabama is also coming into this one mad. I think the Vol defense is going to have to carry this one, I think the Tide make one more big play to get the win. ALABAMA 23 TENNESSEE 20

Watching Romeo + Juliet for the first time in years and it’s much better watching it as an adult since I definitely understand more of what they are saying. Plus, I don’t have the teenage contempt for Leo like I did back then.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

GOP Rep. Tom Kean disappeared for 4 months & missed dozens of votes then finally surfaced, read a 5 minute speech saying he was at a mental health facility, refused to take questions from the press, and MAGA supports his reelection. But the Talarico hoax is career ending.

Clutch runs as Bishop and the Vols checkmate the Razorbacks 24-17. Not crisp from Tennessee but it was the first win in Fayetteville for the Big Orange 🍊 since 2001. Now the Vols need to get ready for the Tide coming to Neyland next week for the Third Saturday in October!

Shibley’s Pick: The Vols should keep things pretty simple. Run the ball with Bishop and company on offense while keeping constant pressure on KJ Jackson and not let the Razorbacks get anything going. This should lead to a solid SEC road win for the Big Orange 🍊. TENNESSEE 30 ARKANSAS 14

Pope Leo XIV: Someone who says 'I'm against abortion' but says 'I'm in favor of the death penalty' is not really pro-life. Someone who says that 'I'm against abortion but I'm in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants who are in the United States,' I don't know if that's pro-life.

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

Amazing reporting and also horrific.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

Tennessee defeats Auburn 24-14. It wasn't pretty, but it's a win. Neyland would have loved the Vol defense, punting, and power football. 200+ yards and 3 TDs for Bishop! Do I know what to do at QB? Nope. That's a worry for tomorrow. Enjoy the win Big Orange 🍊!

Auburn leads Tennessee 7-3 at the half. Just a bowling shoe ugly half. Brandon was replaced by MacIntyre for the final possession. Let's see what happens in the second half.

Shibley’s Pick: I think this game gets won in the trenches. If the Vols can get back to running the ball while providing enough protection for Brandon they should be fine. TENNESSEE 31 AUBURN 20

As Tennessee celebrates the 100th anniversary of General Neyland's coaching tenure tomorrow, keep in mind that he would have been one of those generals lil' Petey would have fired. Neyland was way too good at his job in the Army, both as an engineer and as a master of logistics.

Loser clown behavior.

🤡 Schmitt beclowns himself 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

I agree that there needs to be some guardrails when it comes to college athletics. I still don’t think the Protect College Sports Act does enough for the players. Unless players have the ability to collectively bargain, which would be a Herculean task, they will not get the best opportunity.
