I managed to land some 3D character freelance work for an upcoming game!! It's my first real taste of the industry, and I'm excited to work with professionals and get to contribute to something that will be published and playable by the end! πŸŽ‰ Plus I'll mostly be making furry characters ehehe

The Pyrexia standees are still planned! I contacted a new US based producer and we're trying to work out the color calibration for the new prints. It takes about a week for me to receive a new test print, so it's been very slow in iterating across new versions.

Sorry for the lack of updates on things. I've been working on them but progress has been slow due to feeling burnt out from work. Should I be sharing more wips? For some reason I feel like wips kill the interest in the final finished post.

WIP update for Forest's gator gal, Calypso Cole/Caley! Working on the texturing right now. Still have a lot of texture refinement to do- She's missing her stripes and scars still, but I think she's in a good enough spot to share for now πŸŠπŸ•ΆοΈ

Rest in Peace Lydia, I already miss you so, so much... She was always such a gentle and loving cat. Every night she'd lay beside my pillow and cuddle with me. Even though I knew she was well into her senior years, it still feels too soon to say goodbye.

I thought I was done with the mesh work, but I had to go back and redo Caley's mouth and teeth topology due to baking errors. And then I accidentally overwrote my files and lost all my body shapekey data arrghh It's not a terrible setback, but it is delaying the texturing process a bit...

Teefany has a name now! Now she's just like Jawlene. Except, she actually has a job...

Gosh... I really didn't keep up with ArtFight at all. I need to plan ahead better for next year. But I do want to thank everyone who attacked me for the wonderful art! I'll still try to return-fire, even if ArtFight is over and it won't be worth any points, I'd still like to return the favor! πŸ’™

So it turns out I had a setting enabled in CSP under View > Color Profile > Preview that was altering the way my colors on the canvas looked, and caused all my file exports to be overly saturated. Disabling this setting fixed the issue. No wonder I always struggled with over-saturated images aughhπŸ™ƒ

I'm looking into distribution partners to figure out how I will handle getting the Pyrexia standees out to those of you that are interested in it. It's looking like I'll have to bulk order from a manufacturer and go from there, so I'll try to set up an order form for everyone to fill out soon!

My first small test batch of Pyrexia standees came in!! 🐲✨ My lighting set up is pretty awful, but overall the print looks good. She came out a bit more tinted towards magenta than intended, and the scale highlight and shadow detail got a bit lost as well. What do you think? Would you get one?

It's my 35th birthday today! I celebrated by having my eyes checked and getting a blood test. Everything is okay though, and I got to have a nice lunch with my dad. I don't really have any photos of the occasion, so here's my lil 19 year old cat, Lydia. :)

Finally wrapped up all of the retopology yesterday. She's got a basic working rig and the uvs are all done, too. I made some reshaping adjustments to the mesh though, so the textures are a mess now and need to be rebaked. I'll have some better looking shots, soon!

She's just shy of 50k tris, which is much higher than I've worked with before. We're aiming for a medium rating, so anything under 70k is acceptable, and it's good to have some overhead for customization or extra outfits. I could probably do an optimization pass to squeeze out a few more polys...

Thank you for enduring my moody vent posts. I know nobody really wants negativity on their tl so I will try to be better about it And I deeply appreciate those that reached out to talk to me about this, too. Thank you.

Just a little comfort zone sketch since I've been away from drawing for a long time. I've been focused on my 3D projects and I'm awful at juggling multiple things at once alongside being exhausted from work... I'll put some colors on this- I need the practice, and it might make for a good standee??
