Friendly reminder that not everything needs to generate profit. Money can be poured into things that only return creations from the community.

One of the most disturbing things about Harry Potter is that animals can be turned into objects, and humans can be turned into animals. How many magical artifacts were some of the most powerful witches and wizards in existence?

I've been actively trying to bring more color into my life. It's just more fun with more color.

The idea that bright, wild color is something you outgrow is a damaging lie society tells us. This unspoken rule, that enjoying intense, clashing colors makes you childish, is pure bullshit. The depression palette trend has only gotten worse because it saves corpos money. We gotta end it.

The more that I learn about the Robert Hanssen case, the more that I want a tv show with 2 seasons based on it. Season 1 will be focused on Eric O'Neill's perspective and his struggles in unraveling the case. Season 2 will be from Hanssen's perspective, starting from first contact with the Russians.

S1 will be the typical spy story - drama, intrigue, etc. S2 will paint Hanssen like Walter White. He's playing the game, and he's undoubtedly winning. It could lean into his narcissism and superiority complex. Could be very cool stuff.

We're overdue for a reproduction of Annie. The release years are 1982, 1995, 1999, and 2014. The interval between them is 13, 4, 15, so if we assume that there's a pattern, then it should've been 2020. Did COVID kill Annie? Probably.

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon. Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

Everything from preferred pronouns and drug usage to housing and healthcare are included in the "certain unalienable rights, among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" and it's the government's job to ensure that those rights are not infringed upon by any entity.

When modern Christians say “it’s not the government’s job to help the poor,” they’re not echoing Jesus, Paul, the prophets, or the early church. They’re echoing figures like Ayn Rand, who despised Christianity’s communal ethic of compassion and called altruism a “moral evil.”

Notice how it’s somehow the government’s job to legislate a few Bible verses on human sexuality over our entire country, but it’s suddenly “not the government’s job” when it comes to the +2,500 Bible verses calling for a generous use of wealth that prioritizes the poor.

Notice how quickly “we want our nation to uphold Christian values” turns into “it’s not the government’s job to feed the hungry or help the poor!” which are actually things Christ taught his followers to value.

The really interesting thing about Yakuza is that they're really not all that bad. I hear so many stories about how chill they are when there's nothing that they want from you. But in the US, people want your phone, wallet, shoes, jacket, shirt, anything you got that has any intrinsic value at all

It is genuinely insane how every third youtube short is some dogshit ad that I scroll past without a second thought just to get to the same brainrot bullshit that makes my monkey brain happy

What we are witnessing is an outright abuse of power. This administration is attacking critics and using fear as a weapon to silence anyone who would speak out. Media corporations — from television networks to newspapers — are capitulating to these threats.

Well-said. So many needless deaths due to so many unnecessary guns.

Today’s act of political violence in Utah against Charlie Kirk is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. We don’t have to agree on everything, but we should all agree on this: political violence is wrong, and has no place in our democracy

I'm conflicted on the Newsmax v Fox battle. On one hand, fuck Newsmax for willingly pushing propaganda and lies so blatantly. But on the other hand, fuck Fox for willingly pushing propaganda and lies so blatantly.

Walz says Harris "would have been a fantastic president... we wouldn't wake up every day to a bunch of shit on TV. We would wake up to an adult w/ compassion & dignity doing the work, not a manchild crying about whatever is wrong with him. May his fat ankles find something today. Petty as hell."

Imagine not being able to come up with "yes, it requires a man and a woman, and sometimes, a different person outside of the relationship will help give a same-sex couple a child." It's really not a difficult concept lmao.

The CEO of a a multi-trillion dollar company went to the White House, openly handed the US president a gift made of gold, and his company got a special exemption to tariffs the president has illegally imposed. Also, the Founders took bribery so seriously the Constitution bans it 3 separate times.

weird how the guy born into obscene wealth, bailed out repeatedly, allowed to fail upwards forever until he fell ass-backwards into the presidency, and then was declared by the Supreme Court to be a Very Special Boy Who Can Crime Forever never stops whining about how everything is rigged against him

This is extremely alarming

Article I Sections 9 & 10 of the U.S. Constitution—which limit presidential power over tariffs and protect habeas corpus—have disappeared from Congress’s website. They claim a coding error is to blame.
