1.7 MILLION months of child care! but no, we get a ballroom and arch...
A new Joint Economic Committee Minority report out today finds that President Trump’s vanity projects like his golden ballroom and gigantic arch could cost $1.82 BILLION. What could $1.82 billion do for Americans instead? Take a look.

Infant care is incredibly expensive to provide—but one solution could reduce the burden on both states and parents, Kendra Hurley writes:
While there is definitely some merit to the idea of paying parents to stay home (paid family leave anyone?!) this is not the way to do it at a time when several states have frozen child care subsidy enrollment due to lack of funding www.nytimes.com/2026/09/05/u...

Cornyn and Tillis folding on Blanche is the most predictable thing ever. They are cowards. The minute Blanche is confirmed, there’s nothing stopping him from reneging on this weaponization fund deal they’ve made. Vote for Democrats if you want a Congress that might actually stand up to this fascist.

Great to hear @warren.senate.gov at the @americanprogress.bsky.social CAP IDEAS conference talking about the child care market failure, child care as infrastructure and the need to invest in the ECE workforce.
We can’t be afraid of big, structural change. That means affordable, high-quality child care for every single American family. I'm at Center for American Progress' IDEAS Conference talking about how to get it done.

46% of kids under 6 live in a licensed child care desert. That’s modest progress from the 51% in 2018, but millions of families are still without access. Explore the deserts in your community with our new map 📍 https://www.americanprogress.org/feature/child-care-deserts/
Check out @americanprogress.bsky.social updated Child Care Deserts report. Nearly 50% of children <6 still lack access to child care. Lots of great data in this report + a cool interactive to see if you live in a child care desert. Kudos to @haileygibbs.bsky.social @kcpeeks.bsky.social and team!
A labor of love, w/ too many people to thank for their partnership & brilliance. New analysis: 👉 46% of kids < 6 still live in a licensed child care desert 👉 70% of kids in remote rural areas affected 👉 ~50% rural low-income families lack Head Start access www.americanprogress.org/article/amer...

As a fan, I find this so frustrating and just more evidence of sports league's focus on profits over fan experience. "a Yankees fan will need access to eight networks for the full 162-game slate, plus potentially two more if the Yankees make the playoffs." www.nytimes.com/athletic/714...
Interesting reporting of NAEYC's recent survey results in the @upshot.nytimes.com. Child care providers are facing increasing costs, and decreasing revenue. The child care crisis is only going to get worse if state and federal governments dont step up: www.nytimes.com/2026/03/05/u...

Yes! This is a huge problem here in Tompkins County where not only can new families not enroll, but existing families risk losing their subsidy if they are up for renewal.
Erie County is one of more than 30 counties struggling with funding for the Child Care Assistance Program. The Governor and Legislature must deliver for the tens of thousands of families across NY in need. spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/buffalo/...

Ep. 2 of BridgeCare's Child Care Matters Podcast digs into the complex mix of child care funding streams, and the growing disconnect between what families can afford to pay and how much it costs to provide quality care. And it features me :) Check it out here: getbridgecare.com/podcast/epis...

Yes, being a dictator does make things easier than the messiness of democracy. FFS. Is there any step that is too far for republicans before they call this guy out.

You can tell the administration is serious about rooting out fraud in Minnesota by the fact they just forced all of the prosecutors working those fraud cases to resign.

As the old saying goes, everyone—whether Democrat, Republican, or independent—relies on someone who relies on childcare.
The freeze on child care funding will have a devastating impact on child care providers, children, and families across the country. Use this resource from @childcareforeveryfamily.org to contact your member of Congress: childcareforeveryfamily.org/action/
