Alright. I 100% Belmont's Curse, and I have so many thoughts. Script writing will begin soon followed by a video on it. It was certainly a game that exists.

The lack of polish in this game is... really unfortunate. THE staircase and this weird camera glitch ruins it. (Also the music tends to skip every other loading zone?)

Major gripe in Belmont's Curse: Every weapon automatically moves you forward by a LOT when you attack. Keeping / judging distance is key in a game like this. Hell, the WHIP WEAPON says "does more damage at the tip pf the whip" which is cool, except Rose takes a huge leap forward EVERY SWING.

I can't wait to make a video on Belmont's Curse. I have just so many thoughts that I need to get out.

More quick Belmont's Curse thoughts: Every area so far has the exact. Same. Enemies. Hope you love archers & skeletons, cause thats all you'll see apparently? The melodrama is hella cringey. None of these characters are FUN and there is just so much talking. So far, maps are pretty linear.

So, just to not sound like I'm endlessly bitching, I AM having fun with Belmont's Curse. I just have a lot of thoughts. It just has... so many oddities and weird design choices. I'm going to give it an honest review regardless, even if it definitely doesnt FEEL very Castlevania. Like.. at all.

Why is there like... a 3 frame startup window when you toss the cross boomerang? Doesnt feel very good to throw.

Framerate in Belmont's Curse is atrocious. I'm not normally one to bemoan framerates, but this is truly uniquely weird: Game is 60 FPS, but swinging objects are at 30? Its SUPER jarring and really noticeable. Also every cutscene randomly drops to like 30? Just pick one, 60 or 30. Both is bad.

Early thoughts of Castlevania so far: Controls definitely feel sluggish. It's hard to explain, just a weird delay or extras unneeded frames of animation? WAY too many sparkle and explosion effects on screen at any given moment. Every attack by you or an enemy glows and pulses. It's just too much.

Man. Castlevania Dracula X is like my holy grail game to find, and everytime I see it in the wild they're asking like $1500+ Portland Retro Game Expo is fun, but also extremely aggravating when you see what these vendors are charging now a days.
