As someone who has worked in social housing I can attest that this is not an isolated situation. Housing is absolutely atrocious across much of the UK stock, and there is a concerted effort to bury the evidence.

Suck ass, The Economist

The BBC was effectively hijacked by a politically motivated board, blurring of their coverage policy and a deep desire to peddle whatever lunacy the masses are being encouraged to froth about most. Impartiality has been confused with both sideism and a continuous preference for the right.

Is the BBC becoming a megaphone for Reform UK? And could production of Doctor Who be moving to Glasgow? 👀 Lucy Jackson is joined by political editor Xander Elliards on this week's Media Watch podcast 👇

Real Hope. Real Change.

Jon Kay to Jonathan Reynolds: "You're planning to remove import taxes from products like chocolate, gherkins, marmalade. Your own figures say that will save the average household 40p a week. At a time when [bills] are going up, do you really think people are going to notice 40p a week?"

We don’t talk about it much, but it’s actually surprisingly easy to radicalise an entire population to be pro-genocide and gleefully dehumanise their fellow humans and wish to murder them.

It's disturbing to see some young Jews, especially Americans who moved to Israel, echo Nazi rhetoric. American-born Jews also wield disproportionate influence within the settler movement, including some of its most violent extremist factions.

This is THE lesson. The time for timidity and compromise are long gone. Centrists the world over are despised for their “both sides” rhetoric. You either stand for the many and do not give a single inch - or you enable the few and watch the world burn.

George Monbiot@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

With all due respect, many of the Brexit voting public are now dead and buried - so perhaps now is the time to move on from their stupidity and self-sabotage.

'I will never move ahead of the British public when it comes to Brexit' Prime Minister Andy Burnham says he will not return the UK to EU freedom of movement rules without a referendum, after his call at the weekend for an “honest discussion” on the issue

Kevin Maguire is spot on, all this talk about people stocking up is part of a wider lobbying campaign to increase defence spending. And as Kevin points out, the UK is already the 6th biggest defence spender in the world.

If Brazil can stand up to these techno-clowns and wannabe dictators, perhaps the UK Government could do the same?

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

So, it appears that #Locktober has been adopted by the tech bro, self-optimisation crowd, and simultaneously, already owned by a particular sub-set of the gay community 🔐 And let me tell you, Alpha males are not aware of this fact.

Regularly drug test every elected official. There's literally no downsides to it. It's completely justified on the grounds of both the (failed) war on drugs or the need to treat recreational drug use as a public health issue.

This reminds me of what oil and gas did with the Carbon Footprint. Essentially psycop the public to place the blame on them, rather than face any responsibility for the tsunami of chaos about to hit us.

I think it might be time to admit that an awful lot of the voting public are racist, xenophobic or, at the very least, easily manipulated towards these feelings. Four of these parties are openly racist in c.2000 terms. Two of them fascist.
