Very good interview. I needed to take a couple of days off for grief when my cat Tiny died, but this was not covered under "bereavement" since pets are not considered immediate family (??). So I had to use my vacation days for it. Meanwhile, I haven't been able to take a real vacation in years...
βAny time grief or mourning disrupts your ability to work, or disrupts economic activity in general, it leads us to question the ways in which capitalism harms us.β In a new Q&A, @sesmith.lol discusses how pet loss is the βgateway drugβ in understanding grief under capitalism in their debut memoir.

Mel has put into eloquent words what my increasingly stress-addled brain can't. Living as trans in a time when my world is shrinking day by day is fraught with upheaval. But I wouldn't change who I am for anyone and anything.
To see and experience the broad spectrum that transness presents is to see what is possible for ourselves. Witnessing that in practice benefits everyone. Trans people present the possibility of a better life. And that extends beyond literal transness. xtramagazine.com/power/politi...
