I’m a writer. I love to laugh. I’m artistic, inquisitive, and irrepressible. Irreverent at times. If I wasn’t a writer, I’d pretend to be one.

This is a good example of the fear that ICE has engendered in so many. A man here completely legally with nothing (on paper) to fear from ICE took off running when they showed up at a gas station and was struck by a passing truck. Awful.

NEW INFO HAS REVEALED that the 28-year-old Mexican man killed while running from ICE last week was just visiting on short tourist visa—and already had a plane ticket to go home. newrepublic.com/post/213277/...

🍇🤢Trump’s address tonight is just 6-year-old sour grapes served up as prime-time television. The world’s most famous sore loser still can’t let go of 2020 — especially not now, when admitting he lost means admitting he could lose AGAIN. On-point Ossoff nailed it, as usual. #LoserTrumpsElectionLies

Sigh. So much winning. 🫠

Just moments ago the President was supposed to sign a bipartisan housing bill here in the capital. Except, in a bizarre chapter, he didn’t and is a no show—because he says he’s mad at the Senate. Here’s what’s happening ⬇️👀

"The UFC event captures something about this moment in our history. After all, it’s vulgar, it’s violent, it’s commercial, it’s grandiose, it’s tacky, and it dishonors a place once thought worthy of care and respect. In other words, it’s Donald Trump." ~ The Bulwark

It’s like they’re not even trying to find the right people. Governance isn’t supposed to be a self-enrichment, nepotism-driven exercise that makes a joke out of public service by recruiting unqualified people to lead. It’s not a game. Real lives and systems that guarantee our safety are at stake.

Bird flu spreading, hantavirus popping up, measles spreading, public health systems gutted, and Trump appoints Don Jr.’s turkey-hunting buddy to oversee the FDA. What could possibly go wrong?

This week, I made an unannounced visit to the Otay Mesa Detention Center, because the only way to get an honest picture of what’s actually happening inside is to show up without warning. When we asked to speak with detainees, ICE handed us a brand new memo.

And this is okay with you MAGA racists? Really? How sad to be so filled with ignorance and hate and insecurity that you need to erase people. Repugnant.

#Sweden is electrifying everything that moves — trucks, buses, ferries, and mining vehicles — building the world's most complete 0-emission transport system. While most countries are focused on getting private EVs onto roads, Sweden has been electrifying every category of transport #ActOnClimate

Pritzker: The decision by the Supreme Court today on the Voting Rights Act is an abomination. It is an attack on a crown jewel of our democracy. Illinois is the proud home to having sent more black congresspeople to Washington than any other state in the country. We're not going to stand for it.

So death by firing squad is the repugnant distraction du jour? Sorry; I’m not a squirrel. Still waiting for the Epstein files.

Easter Blessings to all who celebrate. Deeply disgusted to begin this day by reading the profane words of our lunatic “leader.” Needed: words of calm reassurance for a world hungering for peace and stability. What we got: an uncouth, unhinged, frightening rant provoking more hatred and fear.

“The last night I was a pediatric resident, a child came in with Hib and promptly died by the next day. I didn’t work for 50 years to have everything destroyed by one man.” -Dr. Kathryn Edwards, Vanderbilt University This is what RFK Jr. and the anti-vaxxers have wrought.

At the last No Kings protest in my area, I saw an elderly woman (so many elderly!) trip and fall, resulting in a nasty gash to her head. 💔 It struck me she probably marched against Vietnam war, Trump 1.0 - to name a few - and she still marches on! Lesson: Use your voice + respect for our elders!
