If you are going to be making a game, and its gameplay could be made in multiplayer, base your game off of a multiplayer stack. Even if singleplayer. It's easier to go from multiplayer to singleplayer than the other way around.

I don't know how to feel about the amount of negative things associated with Bluesky, from zoos to pedos being allowed here. It's become a real problem.

From what I understand, this mostly happens because in order to publish to the App Store, Apple requires a monthly expensive fee, compared to something like Play Store which is a cheap one-time fee.

One very frustrating thing about macOS. You spend $3k for the computer, then every developer wants to nickel and dime you for software. No im not paying $30 for an FTP client are you kidding me?

If your program mentions in the marketing material what programming language it's made in, I will never take it as a serious project

The biggest thing I hate about Linux is that for serious workloads you risk your system freezing up, even if you give it like 3/4 of your cores

one of the most underrated features of vim is that you can fully work in it with just your keyboard and efficiently, literally just sit back with the keyboard in your lap it's great

I hate the fact that framebuffers have both width and pitch. You only ever really need width, but hardware vendors go noooooooo you need to use an additional field for some stupid reason and complicate iteration.

I've got good legs but somehow going down stairs always manages to break them. Can people not design stairs anymore? Outdoors ones are the most outrageous example, the ones on most paths. Long step sizes, big drops and most times even those are inconsistent

If you sort an array beforehand to find the swaps needed, you could, in theory, craft an rng seed that will bogo sort on the first iteration

Do you guys also have this bug on Bluesky, that when scrolling and the mouse isnt moving, the hover on posts isnt updated?

Rust shouldn't have a package manager, adding dependencies should be explicitly harder because now you have the JavaScript and python problem where you have an incredible dependence on packages which may not even be maintained anymore

i dont think theres any mainstream operating system with at least one architectural issue windows: too much backwards compatibility ruining everything and an annoying API linux and other unix-likes: too many dependencies macos: too restrictive and resource intensive

This won't work. X was built for thousands of users at the same time, and the algorithm has been tweaked over the years. Also this can possibly be annoying for other users, you wouldn't want X people doing the same here right? Especially since this platform is very new.

I just saw @mattpocockuk.bsky.social's post, and I wonder if a flash mob where we all post a 🦋 at the same time in X could make some ripples. As in scheduling a post for tomorrow, October 31, 7 am PST 👀

ENet is quite cool ngl. Also added a message screen similar to that of minecraft's for failures and other things #gamedev

I made a pixel art upscaling/rotation algorithm called cleanEdge! It makes rotating pixel art as clean as possible torcado.com/cleanEdge I made a tool for it too! drop your sprites in and get some nice rotated or upscaled versions :)

The geniuses at apple put the headphone port ground on the same connection as the USB ground port, so I cannot charge and listen to music now because if I do, I get noise in my ears.

This is my issue with mixing politics into software. It does nothing but divide people and doesn't help your project at all.

I'm immensely disappointed with Linus Torvalds. Just want to state this out loud: All the people from Finland are welcome in my community regardless of what their government is doing.

I'll be the first to admit it: macOS is shrimply the best for game development. The Xcode Metal debugger is incredibly detailed, it's really no competition with stuff like renderdoc. Want to debug your fragment shader for pixel at x and y at this frame? No problem!
