I have some quibbles. The codependent idealizing-lack-of-autonomy-in-relationships? Ick. But i know I’m a weirdo on that front. (The fact that people WANT to lose identities to romantic partnerships. Or think romantic partners should to surrender theirs sounds literally insane.)

Two years ago I moved into what I hope will be my forever home. This necessitated prioritizing long-stored items, purging things no longer necessary, etc. Finding places for things I wanted to keep. Apparently wig & costume box did not make the cut. But the material burdens of my ancestors did.

I haven’t needed costume stuff for years. But I’ve never needed any of my grandparents’ things. The encyclopedias and 50 annuals I grew up with? They’ve always been around. When was the last time I used them? Junior high. I’ve been hauling them around for 20 years. Is this how hoarding starts?

Finally got around to watching Masters of the Universe. It’s like someone went back in time and watched a group of six kids playing with the action figures and turned it into a film. There are multiple narrators that keep butting in and taking the story in wildly different directions. ITS PERFECT

It’s a super hot day - let’s can tomatoes! Notes: I waited entirely too long to purchase a food mill. Don’t sleep on tomato powder (made from dehydrated tomato skins). It adds incredible depth of flavor to so many things - really a game changer ingredient. (Yes Knorr Tomaté is better/cheaper)

Honestly, as far as I can tell, it's mostly more reporting. COVID got everybody's attention. "Oh disease outbreaks are a thing. And they screw up all your plans." Then we had Cyclospora- which to be clear is a HUGE & messy outbreak. And now newsrooms know outbreak reporting gets clicks.

The new Coyote vs Acme legal drama is worth watching. On a personal note: I would like to nominate this film for best-worst depiction of “just outside of Albuquerque” of any film in history, and I’m looking forward to attending an upcoming Annual Carrot Festival at Isotopes Park.

I had a PMS last week for the first time in ages. It’s been well over a year. Maybe two? I am so out of practice, it took me forever to figure out what was happening: Two teary meltdowns at work, an argument with my husband that felt like the end of the world.

This girl I used to waitress with in Austin, we moved to New York together in 2003 on a literal Greyhound bus. Shared a fifth floor walk-up studio that, when it rained, had more leaks in the ceiling than we had pots and pans. We used to get drunk and smoke off the fire escape and do “sad-offs.”
