"Stupid, selfish Americans. Don't you care at ALL about the needs of our darling data centers? Your sacrifice will help them flourish. If you collapse from dehydration, oh well. The data centers are our priority."

All the ink you've spilled bashing Europe, and this is the most European take ever given that they look at you like you have stage 4 cancer if you ask for water at a restaurant.

Why would you take the time to write this article? It serves NO purpose at all. It's quite difficult to drink enough water for it to harm you. If you drink 'too much' water, you'll pee a lot. You drink too little and your body will react badly. There's no reason not to err on the side of hydrdation

Water toxicity is a thing, but you'd have to make a concerted effort to hit that point (see "hold your wee for a wii" contest incident). And yeah, 'drinking only to quench thirst' is how you end up with shit like heat-stroke.

The day I rely on Wall Street Journal for my water intake advice is the day pigs fly, Hell freezes over, there's snow in August, a Reform Party member has a salient point and Donald J. Trump utters anything other than unintelligible nonsense you utter hacks of a newspaper outlet.

"Stop complaining about the tech broligarchy depleting and polluting your communities' drinking water. You don't need it. Folks like Murdoch, Ellison, Musk and Bezos will happily let you drink their piss when they've finally reduced you to fungible cattle who must choose btwn serfdom or starvation."

I *will* say that when I started aiming to drink 40 oz per day, my habitual nighttime leg cramps pretty much stopped. WSJ can go fuck off with that stuff, but they were already fucked off so 🤷🏻‍♀️

A few months back I acquired a Campylobacter infection. Due to the nausea, I was unable to eat for 8 days. I am diabetic so I monitored my blood sugar levels - my BS dropped to around a healthy 100mg/dL & stayed there. 8 days without food did not seem to inconvenience my body in the slightest.

Came to say exactly what many others have already pointed out: this is a very data center leaning take. stop drinking water, people. save it for the data centers.

Drinking water is a tiny fraction of home water use, home water use is the smallest category of overall water use, and datacenters don't need treated drinking water for cooling. This kind of story has been showing up for years (because it's true)

This has got to be the stupidest most insulting of our intelligence post yet . If you want to post something this dumb (dumb w/a ‘B’ 🤣) where you can take advantage of the ignorant this site ain’t it. Go to the Nazi portal fmly Twatter or lies antisocial to get that and more . Idiots. @wsj.com

Or, I don't listen to a newspaper about my water needs when I have a perfectly good medical team. 🤨 Food for thought (while we're still allowed food)

Despite all the -ve comments, the comment is 100% true. Too much water can be damaging & downing more than 3 litres at a time can be fatal! The usa principle that "if a little of something is good for you, then a mega dose must be even better" is complete idiocy put about by ignorant morons.

there's a drinking "game" where you duct tape a 40oz to each hand and can't take them off until they're empty. we called it edward 40 hands. it's very dumb.

Oh, I thought we were only doing the Brawndo bit ironically. "You don’t need to make drinking water a part-time job since too much of it doesn’t have any real health benefit."

A bucketful of water once a week. Trying to decide if they're trying out new messaging for "the masses" to reduce our use of water, free more up for data centers

“Too much” is already defined as an amount of water that doesn’t have a benefit. There is zero useful information here even if you haven’t been to med school. Which I don’t recommend btw

Only problem with this comic is that chatbox shills always dress dawn to look cool, like a 35 year old youth pastor who marries an 18 year old and it turns out he's been raping her since she was 12

Do you folks just sit around and think “how can we be bigger cunts today”? Not your run of the mill cuntiness, like a little extra just so dear leader can have a chuckle. Asking for a friend

I’m not paying them to read this but yes actually a whole lot of people over-hydrate. It’s not uncommon. Carrying around a gallon water jug and forcing yourself to finish it every day isn’t healthy

This depends on how much caffeine is in those drinks, since it's a diuretic and may make you expel the fluid before it does you any good. It also depends on a whole host of other factors, including how much you're sweating, your age, your size, and medications. Better to err by a bit too much.

"expel the fluid before it does you any good" lol this isn't a thing. I think you might be mixing up the concepts of "diuretic" and "dysentery" here

a generally healthy person has drink a crazy amount of water in a short period of time for it to be harmful, most cases of water intoxication are from water drinking contests, drug side effects and/or drinking a huge amount of water during/after intense exercise.

The point of the “drink more water” meme is that a lot of people don’t hydrate enough, so spreading it produces health benefits. This article does the opposite, despite being technically correct that over-hydration isn’t beneficial

Ah yes, an addiction to water poisons the body and rots the mind. Now ride with me on the highways of Valhalla as we claim the last of the gasoline from Gas Town my War Boys!

As an evil foreigner I am not observing any improvement in American health, physical or mental, international behaviour or any other attribute as a result of regular water drinking during the day. If anything you seem to be a lot worse. Can you drink less water for the sake if world peace.

Throughout history people drank something when they felt they needed to, that's what i have always done, never in my life have i carried drinking water and made drinking it a 'program'.

Doctors spent years trying to tell people 8 glasses per day had no scientific basis just for those gallon sized bottles that encourage you to believe they're necessary to come out and everyone was on it again.

You know what? This article is probably fueled by misogyny because of the trend of women buying water bottles. Should be titled “Stop acting like a chick with your water bottles!” or something. If it had started with dudes we wouldn’t be here.
