It’s especially weird that this is a gospel. In context, the real Matthew 18:19 verse is Jesus speaking to a child. Like what would the context be around this? It doesn’t even seem like a line that would be part of a Biblical story.

AI slop now making up saccharine Bible verses that do not exist

Olivia Nuzzi got sent in to do a profile but it turned out she wanted to fuck the subject so we sent in Jacob Bernstein to profile her and it turns out he also wants to fuck the subject

you can’t be putting this in the paper (gift link but i do not recommend you use it www.nytimes.com/2025/11/14/s...)

It’s so much more embarrassing that the people doing this are comfortably well off and could totally do it if they actually wanted to

It keeps getting stranger. Why do they have a backdrop if they're just gonna have the cameraman walk on and show that it's her kitchen? It's a weird combination of lazy and trying too hard and

Only reasonable response is to stay off social media as much as possible. This shit cannot be useful to you. It’s not real. Anything real on these sites is just volunteering itself to these parasites

Mar Hicks@histoftech.bsky.social

This person is one hundred percent correct and it’s scary af. We will never “media literacy” our way out of this as a society. We are about to reap the whirlwind when it comes to misinformation, disinformation, and informational warfare.

You also can’t use media literacy to tell that a piece of work is plagiarized, but that’s not unique to AI; that’s just a problem with online plagiarism. AI just makes it easier to do, but this kind of thing was already happening

I had at least 1 black friend when I was five years old and this led to me having a near-religious reverence for MLK, and I thought this was kind of normal. Having a nazi phase seems to me to be partly contingent on having racist parents

amy brown 👻@amybrown.xyz

i actually don’t think the “average” american millennial man had a nazi phase. it’s not some boys will be boys shit. this makes me side eye you and your friend group, sounds like a personal problem

As Emissary points out later, Coates actually used to cite Israel as a positive example before visiting, so Jacob’s is drawing here on stereotypes of black people as antisemitic, and hoping no one checks her on it.

The overvaluation of Weiss is dependent on her presumed ability to appeal to an even broader audience given more resources. In spite of the exponential growth of her newsletter, the truth is that her actual supporter base is pretty small and most of them are not only paying $10

Revan@revan.eurosky.social

I think the counter argument to “Ellison and Weiss will turn CBS News into an unstoppable propaganda machine” is Bezos’s WaPo which lost basically all the talent and also is in a subscription death spiral

She triumphs over her critics in the sense that people keep giving her money, but she has never been successful at actually "selling the news" as she says she wants to do. The news is supposed to appeal to a huge audience for a relatively low price and she is actually terrible at that.

Sally Jenkins@sallyjenx.bsky.social

Ratio me. Please. It's a badge of honor. If you don't like a link, go follow some chicken-heart who needs the approval of the thought-police. Caitlin Flanagan of @theatlantic.com is a tremendous writer and this piece is an excellent read. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

The story about Bari Weiss not getting invited back on The View because her politics confused the audience make perfect sense. Radical centrism doesn't appeal to a mass audience because we are not currently a nation of silent majority fence-sitters.

The “please tell me which parts you think are broken or substandard” bit is very Elon Musk. Just rolling up to a big old organization and immediately trying to identify the parts that can be gutted and amputated.

FOURTEENTH MSF WORKER IN 2 YEARS

Nathan Kalman-Lamb@nkalamb.bsky.social

MSF staff are universally understood to be engaged in an essentially sacred form of work. For a state to nonetheless continuously murder them is a testament to a truly unthinkable degree of depravity. msf.org/msf-denounce...

I don’t get these feelings because I’m not nostalgic about my zoomer childhood. I miss “youth” or whatever, but stuff was ugly when I was a kid. Little kids did spike their hair and there was Walmart, and it all looked like shit, and I kinda knew that even when I didn’t know anything else!

dr. rich traditions, JD@helldude.bsky.social

it's even weirder because its not clear these guys even have any memories of anything real? it's all some false nostalgia for stuff they imagined must have happened but their brains are too internet addled to be clear on it. weirder still because pool is like 50 isnt he?

This shit is dumb but it is basically not different from Jackass. Steve-O literally got on Jackass by lighting himself on fire.

southpaw@nycsouthpaw.bsky.social

Content creators tend to think any spectacle is defensible if they can say health and safety concerns have been attended to behind the scenes, but that’s not really it imho. Mr. Beast’s whole thing is that his subjects’ desperation for cash allows him—a wealthier person—to indulge his sadism.

A bunch of Mr. Beast’s thumbnails are like “I offered this woman a million dollars to let me tie her to some train tracks” and he isn’t smart enough to realize that he has cast himself as the villain in the story and to just play it up.

Oh my god, it’s AI, including the parts with Trump. Like they seem to have dubbed a fake Trump voice over pre-existing clips of him speaking

Alex Kaplan@alkapdc.bsky.social

Trump tonight appears to have pushed the false "medbed" conspiracy theory, which has spread in the far-right internet over the years. www.yahoo.com/news/qanon-c...

A lot of liberals like this are still under the impression that we can wait this out and go back to normal in 3 more years. Trump’s reelection already proves that American fascism was not just a fluke.

Very close to where I grew up. I heard about this from my mom before it was news. There are rules in Illinois against ICE agents making traffic stops so the people they scooped up were just people who happened to be outside.

Every example brings home how senseless this is. Immigrants are not a threat. Republicans need to look like they're doing something about the "problem" they've invented. A bunch of people are getting deported and some guy's roof is half-finished for no fucking reason. Nobody benefits from this.

Exactly! The reason why the right wants to ban things like drag queen story hour is because they do not want their enemies to have any kind of public forum. To a gladhander like Klein the idea that he even has political enemies is anathema

This post is unavailable.

There is a contradiction between “I want to take the stakes of politics seriously” and “I don’t want politics to be violent.” When violence gets imposed on immigrants this guy is all full of nuance, but once it’s against someone else in the pundit class it’s time to draw lines in the sand

Ezra Klein@ezrakleinbot.bsky.social

"All I can say for me in the work I do is that I want to create a space that takes our disagreements seriously, that takes the stakes of them seriously, the consequences for people seriously, but does so without deepening our divisions irreparably. We are going to have to live here with each other"

Aside from the stupidity of defending Kirk, and the fact that he did say most of the awful things that are being attributed to him, quotes are literally pieces of text taken out of context. It's fine to do that. That's what quotes are.

Sally Jenkins@sallyjenx.bsky.social

Snippets that omit context aren't actual quotes. Kirk never said gays should be stoned, he never said he didn't want to fly with a black pilot. Yet these are viral. There is a TON of objectionable stuff he actually SAID to damn him for, without my profession sullying itself with sloppiness.

This disgusting argument rests pretty heavily on the phrase “indiscriminate war.” It’s not indiscriminate! The goal is removal of the Gazan people. It couldn’t be more obvious but this guy thinks he can play dumb to sound smart.

Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social

I was asked "what would be different if this really were an intentional genocide against the Palestinians," and no one wants to hear the reality that it would be over by now. Genocide is not "a brutal and indiscriminate war that goes on for a long time." War crimes are not genocide.
