We must abolish ICE, end qualified immunity for ICE agents, immediately halt funding & dismantle the systems of cruelty and oppression that have gotten us to this point.
So the "advice" doled out in this column makes me INCREDIBLY fucking angry as a former kid who was repeatedly taken to task by teachers for "inappropriate" drawings, culminating in a 9th-grade suspension spurred by Columbine paranoia and residual Satanic Panic. Arionne here says that was JUSTIFIED.
i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.
With almost no advance warning, DHS has suspended its Acquisition Forecast Planning System tool. Contractors relied on this to see what new contracts the agency would be soliciting — and so did we.
Now it looks like no new advanced notice will be given between Oct. 30 and Nov. 5.
Average Trump scandal: many people dead after uncontroversial government program illegally cut by doge for nonexistent savings
Average mamdani scandal: he’s playing BASKETBALL with his FRIENDS
Yes. (Sorry, I originally wrote 10p ET, then "fixed" it — but only halfway.)
And, now, that deadline has passed with no filing. I also have received no notice of any Supreme Court filing.
So, it appears we are back where we started: Judge Carter has set a TRO hearing for Tuesday.
Also, have never seen anything like this before: Any rehearing/en banc request in the US v. CA 9th Cir appeal is due by 7p ET today — so, in 9 minutes. (This order was issued at 3:24p PT, so they had a little more than 3.5 hours.) storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.
I am old enough to remember when politicians felt the need to hide behind euphemism and obfuscation. As frustrating as these obfuscations were I hope it is becoming clear to all that they were an advance, historically speaking
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."
ilhan omar says somalis are not people to mess with. they immediately began making fun of trump’s attempt to demonize them. “our lack of fear is also rooted in our faith and understanding we don’t EVER get to be bullied by anyone.”
He also said Arabs don't produce any literature. Last year's winner of the National Book Award was Lebanese writer and painter Rabih Alameddine. The winner in non-fiction? Egyptian-American journalist Omar El Akkad.
Besides being nakedly racist and bigoted, this is just hilariously wrong on all levels.
I mean, Omar Yaghi won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry last year, and he won the Wolf Prize in 2018. And that's just one example.
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."
“it would be really sad in this moment of minnesota did not defeat republicans up and down the ballot,” ilhan omar says minnesota is not interested in a “pedophile protection party, minnesota does not come after our refugees, we send one to congress.”
“some people in the party leadership wanted us to reconsider… which is funny, because i remember asking them to reconsider something last year… something about an endorsement. but that’s the beauty of american politics, we all get to make our own decisions,” says omar fateh
ilhan omar says she was a civic engagement nerd. as a kid she would help her grandfather with translating at caucuses, then she got involved with DFL party leadership. she lost to phyllis kahn once, then ran again and won. they had increased youth vote by 35% that election
“because we are these people, we see what is coming and we prepare for it,” says ilhan omar of having such an engaged constituency that are “students of movements.” talked of people predicting operation metro surge and building networks, her colleagues in congress marvel at these
My interpretation: They know they messed up and they are trying to avoid sanctions from the judge.
Here’s where things stood on Friday, three weeks after the judge ordered his return. prospect.org/2026/10/23/t...
HUGE, GOOD NEWS: In total reversal from Friday’s stonewalling, perjury-flirting “status report,” ICE now says it has secured a one-way travel document so Ahmed Soliman can return to the US via a commercial flight. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Bumatay, meanwhile, shows he should not be taken seriously from the opening paragraph of his embarrassing 35-page dissent.
Compare the first page of the federal appeals court judge's dissent with the first page of the actual complaint filed in federal court by DOJ.
Truly.
Sanchez, in his concurrence, starts off by noting his dim view of DOJ's list, describing it only as "more than 20,000 registered voters whom the United States has identified in a list as potential noncitizens."
No presumption of regularity there.
Sanchez focuses on Purcell:
Bumatay literally pushed Bennett into discussing the merits — and saying, more or less, that DOJ has no argument here on the merits or the equities.
Here's Bennett (who also dings DOJ on its request on Purcell grounds):
Bennett literally states that he wrote a concurrence because Bumatay insisted on going as far as he did in his dissent.
This, also, is something that I highlighted — bsky.app/profile/chri... — was happening yesterday during oral arguments.
Yeah, the Ninth Circuit held what I told you all when I read DOJ's Notice of Appeal — bsky.app/profile/chri... — and what Bennett said — bsky.app/profile/chri... — on Sunday: This is not A.A.R.P.:
NEW: As expected, on a 2-1 vote, the Ninth Circuit dismisses DOJ's appeal in the US v. California case over DOJ's claims relating to "likely noncitizen" voting. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
NEW: In rare Sunday arguments, appeals court judges skeptical of DOJ’s California election lawsuit.
The lawsuits in California and Alaska are expected to fail — but they also show how far A.G. Todd Blanche will go to advance Trump’s aims.
