I relate a lot to social media algorithms. I'll be hyper fixated on one thing, and then I'll be hyper fixated on another thing right after. (Also wow it amazes me how hard the For You feed can pivot in such a short period of time. Would recommend.)

Not going to lie, I admire Bluesky's general goal, but man, Attie shows they really need to learn how to read the room. I just hope it doesn't cause all my favorite artists here to leave. That would suck.

I just discovered Vesktop (3rd-party Discord client) privated their GitHub issue tracker and now I'm REALLY pissed. There was so much good troubleshooting information in there, and now it's all gone. I'm going to keep using it for the time being but I won't recommend it to anyone anymore now.

Maintainers, please don't do this to your projects. Issue trackers are valuable sources of information for both users and developers. And if you do this, please have an alternative prepared that's not just another Discord server.

Someone did it! Hope the main Bluesky client gets this. It would be awesome to see everyone using a feature like this.

deer.social custom verifiers are live! you can use them!

In case they *do* add this to the main client, I added a bunch of verification records to my own PDS. I'm thinking ahead!

Why doesn't someone make a website with a "Piracy Policy" link in the footer? Instead of describing how they use your data, it describes how you can use their data.

I like Bluesky's new Verified system - but it needs more refinement. Notably, you can't set your own verified sources in the app. You have to take what Bluesky gives you. Here's a quick UI mockup I made showing how a user could hypothetically add their own verification sources. 🧵 (1/2)

Plans aside, what's everyone's New Years Screen Resolution? I'll start: Mine is 2560x1440, and has been for a few years now.

Need to put down my controller from time to time - good thing I have just the place to put it. #cats

Confession: Today I betrayed software engineers everywhere by A) admitting I could fix a family member’s printer, and then B) fixing it All I can be is sorry, and that is all I am.

Oh we're doing first posts now? I don't have a good picture of my cats on standby right now... sooo... Here, have a code snippet of a quick-and-dirty Linux screenshot utility. Written in #rustlang. It could be better, but it works.

I made it because KDE's Spectacle has a delay, which is not exactly something you want when taking screenshots.

You are up to date.
