Orionids - a small multiplayer game written in minc running on the minc-kernel: wasm client, game server, uni-kernel, uefi boot, drivers, TCP, IPv6, IPv4, UDP, TLS1.3, HTTPS, WebSocket, HTTP/3 and QPACK, WebTransport (http datagrams). No OS, runs directly on a 2 core VPS: orionids.minc.dev

I've pushed updates to reduce lag over websockets (TCP), and improve client predictions so game feels more responsive. You can also see your connection status before entering the game.

Today, in DD/MM/YY form, is 24/10/26, a Pythagorean triple, the last one this century apparently

The macOS built-in curl, git, pip, python3, perl, ruby, and openssl all read /etc/ssl/cert.pem, which still has the emSign root, but they don't check revocation like Apple's Secure Transport libraries. This is, uh, a problem. git and pip especially. I added a short-term workaround to this page.

🚨 Six WebPKI Intermediate CAs are compromised. This is bigger than Heartbleed, but a client-side issue. Anything that verifies certificates against public roots, like most TLS clients, is/was affected. Details, live test, patched versions and workarounds at emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com Act now.

Edminc/edmc, my internal editor written in minc is now available as open source, or as a direct install link. (minc.dev/edminc/) Alpha release - I'm using this as my main editor for weeks now on macOS/Win11. Use this as a template for a cross-platform native app. Zero external dependencies.

minc compiler v0.9.18 now available. - Updated sokol gfx minc headers to match latest C staging_buffer API and FS storage, including new sokol-samples. (staging, histogram). - @inline attribute (always_inline or error). - Lots of minor bug fixes, performance improvements. Available at minc.dev

minc.devminc — A minimal language for building native softwareA minimal C replacement that compiles directly to native executables for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android, WebAssembly and UEFI.

Four dimensions is too many! Let's unfold this 4D cube to three dimensions, then two, and then one. Don't worry, we'll put it back together again. The math is lovely, but it's the rhythm and dance of the lines that fascinates me here.

Blender 5.3 sort of kind of supports gaussian splats. Not perfect, but the best implementation so far. I made this as a test. Warning: I might make more

This bugfix is included in the minc compiler 0.9.17 transpiled version of the sokol headers.

Andre Weissflog@flohofwoe.bsky.social

Critical regression bugfix in the sokol_app.h GL backend on Windows with AMD drivers (framebuffer format selection failed when a GL driver only advertises SRGB capable formats, apparently AMD does that). Details in the changelog: github.com/floooh/sokol...

minc compiler 0.9.17 released, available at minc.dev Another release focused on correctness. Write 'a[j] = j++' or 'a[next()] = next()' without fear. (Now left to right.) New features: 'threadlocal' (one copy per thread), and 'using' (free at block exit), fiber stack guard.

not yet merged into github.com/olaugh/pfsynth main branch. i made some progress on physically modeled synth for the violin family. some registers and some techniques are still sounding rough. didn't stop me from making a demoscene style string quartet tracker. they let you post anything on here

Rare feeling of working on something that's getting me kind of excited #IndieGame #GameDev #Godot #DarkFantasy #ScreenshotSaturday

Been playing around with scripted wav and video rendering for the minc-synth. Each frame is rendered on GPU and read back, then converted with ffmpeg to a mp4 with the audio file. The audio file is generated in a separate pass.

This will never stop blowing my mind. A 12-year sequence of real telescope images of a star 133 lightyears away. And around it, four planets slowly orbiting. Four real exoplanets, each more massive than Jupiter, imaged as they move around their host star.

Got the minc kernel running on arm64. The minc compiler now supports uefi-arm64 as a target platform. Running in vfkit on macos here, booting up, takes over at EL1 and starts a scheduler, and a shell in a thread. minc compiler is compiled to a bare metal arm64 exe that runs in this shell.

Any time we hear "AI did this and this", it's not proof programs are becoming sentient, but that the humans deploying said AI did this (which is generally failing to deploy proper sandboxing measures to prevent an AI from going against security) It's not the AI that's rogue, it's the company

Woohoo, got it submitted! And it even has a title screen, which I never seem to get to in game jams lol. Lot of fun working on this though, and looking forward to playing everyone else's #fallingblockjam submissions! Check mine out here: toastergames.itch.io/dice-to-meet...
