It's worth remembering this administration couldn't manage a case against the sandwich guy

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Markwayne Mullin reveals that the Trump admin is trying to build a RICO case against Ilhan Omar: "There was conspiracy to deceive the American govt, and therefore everything else that came in with it could then be looked at as the same case ... the statute of limitations on things, they don't apply"

Looking at a drop in the high temp of >30F across the next 48 hours and wondering how many people I'm going to have out sick with migraines

We fought for our neighbors before and we'll do it again.

Trump tries to start a race war: "The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants ... The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back!"

Going to be hiring here shortly - it's been a minute (or 3 years) since my last time around at this and I am both curious and dreading to see how much AI use will have changed the process.

Moments like these, I'm glad to be a local government employee.

United States President Donald Trump issues executive order instructing federal government agencies to "use the terms 'Super Intelligence' and 'SI' in place of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' and will not acknowledge the usage of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' in any applicable setting."

To clarify (at least to my partner if nobody else), that this refers to the pole and not the flag itself. We haven't gone full Camping World over here

And they pass WCAG color contrast compliance requirements in most combinations, so no ADA concerns if you want to mix and match on a site.

If anything, we barely pre-screen at all - I've once had an HR pass me a candidate whose resume was just a QR code on the basis that it 'looked tech' After that, an experienced candidate looking for a place with some stability and a solid union is a breath of fresh air

Prior to 1898, New York City was a collection of various cities until it was combined and reorganized into the city and boroughs we know today. Gets me thinking - what if the same was done to the Twin Cities metro? What's in the new city? What's not? And where would the natural 'boroughs' be?

The next real important question - is Bloomington part of it? I'm personally inclined to say everything inside the 494/694 ring is definitely included. Things that straddle that line do too, so Bloomington (barely) makes the cut on my map.

I'd be interested in some thoughts from Americans on here on an idea: Over the last 5 years, have you found yourself identifying more with your home state than the US as a whole over time?

NEW: Thiel's Dialog society privately told members their data was stolen in a cyberattack. But WIRED found it was just readable to anyone on a misconfigured web page. Its lawyers sent us a legal demand to hand over the data. We passed.

Holding the WHCD in the donor-backed ballroom at the pleasure of the president is maybe too on the nose of a metaphor

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Lindsey Graham says they are going introduce legislation that’s going to authorize 400 million dollars to be spent on building the ballroom: We pay for it by offsetting it with customs fees. The sooner we get the ballroom built, the better it is for the country.

On a recent panel, I said that authors should promote their books more because people see far less of the promotion than we realise. I have realised that I almost never promote my books. So, um... These are my books. patricksamphire.com/books

Media reporter emeritus @dbrauer.net says the Star Tribune's obsession with a supposedly dysfunctional Minneapolis City Council overplays minor issues, lets the mayor off the hook, and obscures what the city has accomplished.

Kiddo: 'Would you rather be a lion or a fox?' Me: 'Fox' Kiddo: 'Why don't you like lions?' So she's clearly ready for social media

The train is now slated to get back to MN between 1 and 2 AM. So, to everyone unable to run or hide from meetings with my deeply tired and grumpy self tomorrow morning, apologies.

The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me. It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."

Gonna get train posts from me today. Strap in. As a side note, apparently Borealis moved to Superliners when I wasn't paying attention. Opinions may differ but I've got a huge soft spot for the double decker cars

I keep thinking about the politically agnostic people in Minneapolis who were radicalized by ICE’s presence and began actively protesting them. I wonder if putting ICE in transient places, where Americans from all over can see their aggressive (and often illegal) actions, may just backfire.
