Gloria Steinem understood power: of women, words and coalitions, and she used that power to transform a stubborn nation. She built alliances without concern for how cynics might perceive them - and she lifted leaders long before others understood their promise.

Meeting heroes always risks disappointment, but knowing Gloria was an honor, where her humor and kindness were matched by a relentless belief that we could be better. May the Lord bless her family and all who loved her.

Those attacking our voting rights are afraid of the power we hold and how we’ve poured into this nation’s story. This #Juneteenth, we celebrate and honor the fight of those who came before us. Our mission in this moment is unmistakable: push on until our full freedom is finally realized.

One of my favorite pictures with my father, Reverend Robert Lee Abrams. He and Mom built a beautiful family and filled it with faith, courage, service, laughter, and love. You left so much good behind, Dad. We love you. (Not pictured: our youngest brother, Walter Abrams.) Photo: Annie Leibovitz

Step 9 in the fight for democracy is electing leaders who protect us. The FBI raids against Ohio grassroots organizations echo attacks on the right of Black and brown voters to be heard. We must be vigilant about defending our democracy — everywhere for everyone. So we register, engage, and vote.

BREAKING MS NOW: FBI agents on Thursday raided the Cleveland offices of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative — a pro-democracy organization that helps register voters in that state, according to three people briefed on the search.

DeAndre Mathis is a Democratic candidate in the race for GA Insurance Commissioner and he needs your vote. We need an insurance commissioner who will hold companies accountable and work for us. The Democratic primary runoff election is on Tuesday, June 16. Early voting is open now through June 12.

🗳️ ATTENTION GWINNETT VOTERS: My friend Adrienne White is fighting to keep Georgia's Senate District 7 blue for the rest of the year in the special election on June 16th. Adrienne White will be an exceptional senator, so make your plan to vote on or before June 16th. @georgiademocrat.bsky.social

Stacey Abrams spoke at the Women Winning lunch today about the need to organize those with shared values to elect candidates who will enact a bold agenda that will improve all of our lives, regardless of what we look like, where we come from, or the language we speak.

It was great to welcome Stacey Abrams to Minnesota yesterday. She joined Secretary of State Steve Simon and me at the Sabathani Community Center to talk about voting rights, voter protection and the work it takes to make sure every voice is heard.

Children can’t vote, but their hunger is real. Yet, once again, Gov. Brian Kemp has refused to help — vetoing funding for summer nutritional assistance. Georgia families are struggling to afford groceries, rent and health care, and this would be a lifeline.

“This is a moment when we need to flip the script and have state government be the forefront of civil rights and a representative democracy.” Our own Daniel Squadron joins @staceyabrams.com’s Assembly Required to talk about how we build power in the states. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a...

Originally called Decoration Day, Black Americans interred the bodies of fallen Union soldiers to honor their sacrifice — now known as Memorial Day. Decades later, my great-grandfather served our nation in WWI. Then my grandfather took post in WWII and the Korean War.

Today and every day, I honor their sacrifice by fighting for rights they were denied in a country they loved, knowing freedom will prevail if we refuse to give up the battle.

620 teddy bears & paper dolls cover the National Mall lawn today, each one representing 10 children detained by ICE since this admin launched its attacks on immigrant families. It’s past time to end the detention of families & children and instead provide a pathway to citizenship. #ReadThemHome

Children belong in classrooms, not detention centers. I was proud to join a rally in DC today speaking out to #EndFamilyDetention and protect kids from the fear, trauma, and lasting harms to their health and well-being they face from being kept in detention centers like Dilley. #ReadThemHome

I was honored to join my friend, the Honorable Stacey Abrams, and fellow Members of Congress today in standing against family and child detention. We must continue fighting for a more humane immigration system that protects the dignity, safety, and rights of every child and family.

In detention centers across the country, children and families are being ripped from their communities and subjected to inhumane conditions at the hands of ICE and CBP. This crisis does not begin or end with one facility, and we won't stop until all families are home. Learn more: readthemhome.org
