Serious question: Why do people care if #Apple adds a #touchScreen to their laptops / #MacBook? If you don't like it, don't use it. I don't get the fuss, there must be something I'm not seeing.

Why is nobody talking about how utterly horrible #FaceID is on #iPhone18Pro? Its about as horrible as the very poor #TouchID on #iPhoneDuo.

It's nice to see nasty people lose control over their public image. Unfortunately, this particular nasty will probably use martial law and ICE to ensure it doesn't impact his hold on power. So I have mixed feelings because of all the nice people who will suffer from the situation.

My partner still runs iOS 18 on his iPad. He won't upgrade until they restore Slide-Over with fast app switching. I guess we'll forever have an iPad Pro running iOS 18.

I just stumbled over a photo from August 2017 with a #Mac in the background. That UI #Apple shipped back then was gorgeous! It was neat and tidy, you could clearly see what's what, buttons had shapes, bars were a polished gray, there was visual hierarchy. It makes me want to design my own OS!

Shorter than its title and absolutely comprehensive.

First #Russia Appears to experimenting with the #plague And now the appear to be practicing to target #Kiev's sewer system. There are 3M people living in Kiev. Are they actually planning what this looks like they're planning?

Whenever I feel like my phone has gotten a bit dated I take it out of its case. its like buying a new keyboard to make your computer feel new: way more affordable and better for the environment.

If you design software and do not understand what "key window" or "input focus" means, please go read up on it. Please!

I'm really curious what Canon's new chip-press will do to ASML. Apparently they have managed to go below 2nm, but its still slower than lithography.

Isn't it amazing how you can run the same iOS on an iPhone that cost 550€ last year and one that costs 2200€ this year? Ok, the range from MacBook Neo to maxxed out MacBook Pro or Mac Studio is even bigger, but still!

Just found out that a lot of people don‘t know that you can use a ”C7 figure‑8 power cord“ with any Apple power adapter in case you forgot your travel adapter. Way cheaper to get one of those usually than a full travel adapter. #travelhacks

Looks like the AI squeeze is about to get serious. Google is moving most of it's currently free Gemini models behind a paywall. OpenAI introduced a USD 500/month plan. Is this when the bubble bursts?

Yesterday, I directed the free Google Gemini chatbot to write a shell script for me. I paid nothing, I understand what it does, and it works. I did had to ask it if some things where a good idea a few times, but it fixed those.

Now I have a script that uses SSH to merge the storage folders of my Kirby install from my server and my Mac and then uploads the latest version of my website's code. Only delta-updates in both directions. This saves me about 15-45 Minutes per update.

I suspect the A/B-Test for videos was originally conceived to help advertisers test different versions of an ad-video. Making it a general feature on YouTube could just be a symptom of Youtube forgetting it is more than a marketing platform.

📝 I could just share a link to Marques Brownlee’s video and say, “Hey I thought this was good. You might too.” But turns out I had a lot I wanted to say and think through, so it turned into a blog post. blog.jim-nielsen.com/2026/dear-so...

Which bug fixes were so important, they had to push a 0.1 update? Anybody know? I'm used to living with the .0 bugs until the .1 arrives after weeks or months, this must have been urgent! #Apple #macOS

I've got to admit, my way of dealing with enshittification is to learn not to care. If I cared as much today about some products and brands as I did a decade ago, I'd be very unhappy. Loyalty to a brand or an employer is short-sighted. Loyalty should always be towards values and people.

My hammer went rogue and started smashing people's heads in! There was nothing I could do. I tried to stop it, but my arm kept swinging it at people. It isn't my fault! It is the hammer's. This is very dangerous. Someone should regulate hammers. (This is a post about AI safety and liability.)

I used to use a #Mac because of the software, despite the hardware. Now I use one because of the hardware, despite the software. OK, I want a UNIX or Linux system and Windows is NOT AN OPTION, so my choices are limited, but if @valvesoftware.com shipped an ARM laptop with #steamOS… I'd be tempted.

OK, macOS 27 looks much better than 26, but hell is it buggy! It's like #Apple used #AI for everything with no human intelligence involved at all!?! - Exposé is a mess - Music gets louder when playing an audio iMessage

- Text to Speech mumbles and pronounces words wrong while changing the speed at which it speaks - Using the keyboyrd shortcut to open the help menu opens an un-closable menu in system settings (you need to reboot to close it)

- Cmd+X some text and press cmd+Z to undo. it will only restore part of what was cut And those all happened to me within the first few days of using it. Is Apple trying to keep the Mac small to avoid the gatekeeper label in the EU, or what is happening here?!

Ok, I was just wondering: Why would you use a CMS to build a website if you're building one for yourself as an indie dev/designer using AI? This is purely hypothetical, my stuff is hand-crafted and runs on Kirby, but I am curious.

Does anybody know why @figma.com runs in the background after quitting it by hitting cmd+q? I've not needed it much recently, and it feels a bit creepy not knowing what it does while I don't use it. #Figma #infosec

I suspect it's an MCP thing to enable access for AI? But that doesn't feel right. Why would that need to be local when AIs can just talk to the Figma servers instead?

I didn't know #Dailymotion was still around, but it just popped up in a search result. Curiosity made me click the link, and damn is that website terrible! It feels like a first-semester college project done by someone who has their first try at vibe coding but absolutely no motivation.

It’s annoying when your browser zooms if a button is rapidly tapped. There’s actually a really simple fix and no, you don’t have to prevent all zooming with a meta tag! piccalil.li/blog/stop-bu...

I live in the EU, #SiriAI is not available. I just set up a Shortcut plus automation using #Siri AI and it worked. No hacking, no nothing…

I haven't used #Apple Spotlight ever since installing Tiny Start about half a year ago. And this new setting in macOS 27 just grabbed my attention. Is this a way to opt-in to see ads in #Spotlight?!? Does anybody know? Maybe John Gruber or @snazzylabs.com ?
