I’m a bit cynical but utterly open minded, & I know there’s still a few surprises hiding that will either be good for me or not. I’m a male survivor of FV. (Oh & I had massive family responsibility from a very young age, so we don’t talk much & really don’t understand each other) Just so you know

Stefan@stefan.bsky.social

👋🏼 new followers… I’m a former ICU nurse (& theatre & ED nurse & teacher) who burned everything as a whistleblower for safety (twice). I’m rebuilding as an unemployed occasional nude life model for artists while studying a JD. I play violin, I’m newly identified as ND & I’m too old for any of it.

Moving into a place with my name on the lease…there’s no rush, and everything is good between me and my partner, and there’s a lot to measure and maybe IKEA on a weekend… Anyway. New digs. Rented, but mine.

For anyone *not* from Australia or New Zealand wondering why we aren’t viable for the small penis truck, and maybe believing anything said by Tesla in relation to this announcement… …these were never going to meet safety standards here, and trying to make it happen was never going to happen.

I’ve not commented on Helen Haines injuries. What happened was unspeakable. Many others have said more; and better than I could. I hope she improves from here. However, this is what happens with a Landcruiser with a bull-bar. They are here, this is Australia, and we need them. All that. However:

There are bigger vehicles available and starting to be seen on the roads in Australia. There’s two things to remember: visibility and the height of the mass. Helen Haines lost her legs, and she’s not out of ICU yet. It would have been worse with a different vehicle with a higher impact point.

Of course, a regular driver minding their own business is not wilfully running down politicians. That’s not my point. But is it too late to reconsider how big we need our utes/trucks to be? Do we need them that large? Because they’re the ones that will do more damage unintentionally…

30 years in Brisbane, then 5 years in Melbourne. I could still tell you which roads *will* flood when flooding happens, and so could 1000’s of others. Some things are certain: don’t fight with a bollard, and if it’s flooded, forget it.

ABC reporter Will Murray and another man swam out to the car and pulled the driver out of the vehicle.

This is a terrible article...you are going to be welcome here (in Australia, at least). We’ll tell you *exactly* where your privilege is, though. This is that story…people learning stuff that hurts to hear. Listen anyway, or else you’ll make us swear… www.wired.com/story/they-f...

In Australia, we're paying around (and frequently over) US$6.60/gallon (calculated at AU$2.50/L) for fuel. That's the cost of Trump's war and American exceptionalism. But you won't find another USA on the planet, and we're all paying for it in myriad ways.

Between the briefing itself, the claim of being a lawyer despite Joy qualifying as one; and the use of the word ‘effectuating’ there’s a lot of trying way too hard and not succeeding in this whole situation. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10...

Very sad to hear that Margaret Hamilton has passed away. Here's a short thread about her role in the Apollo mission, and her lesser-known work on the simulations that led to the discovery of Chaos Theory. 🧪 👩‍🔬 ⚛️

I did a thing this afternoon. Honestly, have no idea how I went. Felt good about it, but I’ve learned never to get my hopes up.

This is truly worrying! It is time the Future Fund served Australians to build a thriving future here on earth for our children.

To the people complaining these sex abuse cases have created a world where men now have to think 10 times before they touch a woman. Yes, that's the point. It's called consent. Welcome to human decency.

For various personal reasons I’m all kinds of intersectional even one step back from the more obvious fact I’m a 50 year old white guy. The kind of confidence based on absolutely nothing these men possess is utterly baffling. (fwiw, rapists belong in prison, which should be a fundamental fact)

Also, new tattoo ideas; not sure which first and not sure exactly where… (These aren’t my tattoos; but I love the work)

Bisexuality visibility day was yesterday (in my timezone) and I MISSED IT!!! It’s on the calendar now. But my first one and I missed it!!!

I’m fairly certain being hassled by a manager to return to work isn’t cool when you’re on a medical certificate for long term mental health leave…

Big fan of Dr Glaucomflecken’a but haven’t seen anything here since his site went outrageously paywalled. Was curious how that was going… And it might just be timing, but that same site is down. Did anyone subscribe?

. Attention Trump truckers Diesel fuel in Melbourne = AUD $11.28 per gallon I think yours doubled and is now about US $6.00 a gallon So your MAGA president has screwed Aussies more than he’s screwed you But hey…. You make sure you vote for him again at the midterms .

I hate the waiting. There’s a thing I’m looking at because it’d be nice, but I’m not putting any pressure on it or my capacity to do it. But the waiting still sucks, it turns out.

UPDATE: I discharged home on Friday, to do some more work with my person and the cats. Home is a weird definition for the life I have, but it really is where your heart is. Further updates to come.

Hello - could anyone who knows me vote for the moon rock? It’d make a NASA nerd very happy. Although this wasn’t found on my favourite mission (Apollo 12) it was found by their backup crew (Apollo 15). Vote!!!

When you make a first class joke about a restaurant and it gets zero traction, and you don’t know if you utterly misjudged the audience and now you are a social pariah, or if it’s just a timezone thing and everyone’s asleep.

I’m letting somethings go, and working through others. This is one of the things I’m letting go. The last time I spoke to my abusive ex-wife she said to me “I know you think I harmed you. When you think of me, have grace.” 1/

No. I’m done excusing her. Even in my own head. Forgiveness might come for my sake. But excusing her behaviour? No. That helps her. Not me. It’s me and the people I care for now. 2/

When I was about 20, I was invited to join a touring group of strippers - male & female (and tbh I can’t remember how that came about). I didn’t. I took on more responsibility and more socially acceptable roles, and here I am. I’m increasingly wondering where the other me that said yes ended up.

Might as well take back the Spanish Flu as well. It was theirs all along, so….<shrugs>

Ok. <Breathes>. I’m bi. Always have been, but at 50, finally happy to admit it to myself. I’d always been an ally, then met my non-binary partner - and discovered that meant a queer relationship. None of those things caused the world to fall in. So, 1 + 1 + many others = bi. So there we go.

Big fan of burying parts of Trump in the Gulf of Mexico and parts in Lake Ontario. You know the medieval kings would’ve done it that way. Treat him like a deposed Monarch, keep the original names…don’t even care if he’s dead or not when he gets his water burial, tbh.

This is universal… For instance, Pauline has been in or around Parliament for 30 years. She *is* the establishment. She *hasn’t* been learning all this time, and is now ready to lead the country. She hasn’t learned anything since Grade 5. She should be treated accordingly, and yet…

It's very bad that we've developed a new dominant breed of debate pervert who spends their entire lifecycle insisting nobody will let them say the things they've said a thousand times and insisting everyone has to have the same debate with them every single time

That’s what my role was - “you weren’t one of the kids, you were my associate carer.” Any time I asked for any consideration I was informed that “outsiders knowing would get the family sent to foster care” And if there were supports, I didn’t see them. 3.

So I hid my needs. And absorbed my brother’s violence, which had started at age 4 (I don’t remember earlier, but might have been earlier). I was taught that everyone else gets boundaries, but I don’t. I have responsibilities to others. So here we are. FUND THE FVCKING NDIS. 4.

I resuscitated her 4 times. I ran a household. Learned all the first aid courses I could and became chief first aid officer of a surf club. I became an Army Medic and a nurse. Along the way discovered no one saw me as a family member - my mother actually described me as her “associate carer”. 2.
