This is late, but I had a great time (as usual) at Can*Con! It was wonderful to see all who stopped by the booth and to chat with smart and kind people on panels. I don't have any pictures! Except for some from my wee Can*Con afterparty: the Igorrr show which slapped so hard I'm still reeling!

We’re excited to return to Can\*Con again this weekend! We can’t wait to meet authors, catch up with old friends, make new ones, and join some cool panels on authorial vision and small press resistance. Find Stelliform books in the Vendor’s Hall all weekend, and sign up for a pitch session with us!

Canadian authors, we are looking for a horror novella for 2027. If you have a complete ms in the ~18-40k range that is deliciously creepy, with carefully crafted prose and a strong eco focus, we'd love to read it. See our sub guidelines and submit to submissionsStelliform Press Please share!

I have to say, this weekend was so refreshing. In my teaching dayjob the continual refrain is that people don't read anymore (and this is not without evidence unfortunately) and we're reshaping curricula for very low literacy even at post-secondary. It was lovely to be around those excited to read.

Still recovering from our big book weekend! Thanks to everyone who visited Stelliform at Word on the Street and Little Ghosts Fest, and to the volunteers, organizers, booth neighbours, & friends who made it possible. Extra love to the horror community for welcoming my kid for their vendor debut. 👻

What does legacy mean when the world is at a tipping point? On John Scalzi’s blog, Wendy Waring shares her Big Idea, tracing the journey that transformed The Hunger of Those Who Built It into a novel of climate crisis, sisterhood, & the worlds we build for those who follow.

Publication day is here! Wendy Waring’s THE HUNGER OF THOSE WHO BUILT IT is now available everywhere books are sold. Good Reading calls it “seductively spellbinding” and declares, “Debuts aren’t supposed to be this good.” We couldn’t agree more.

The title is the warning. This Strange Horizons review places Wendy Waring’s novel squarely in our moment of wealth inequality -- when we must decide who our society serves, what we owe one another, and what kind of future we will build. Check out the full review here: strangehorizons.com/...

Began reading The Jaguar Mask by Michael F. DeLuca yesterday. Beautifully-written and utterly gripping modern fantasy set in Guatemala. Protagonists are an indigenous jaguar man driving an illegal cab dragged into investigation of a political murder and an artist whose mother was one of the victims.
