The same goes for the common saying that "Washington is broken." DC isn't broken - not one of these people came from DC and neither did the people causing problems now. Folks out in the so-called "heartland" sent them here. Stop blaming us for the mess y'all keep making.
Newt Gingrich: Resigned in shame. Dennis Hastert: Child molester. John Boehner: Chased out by Freedom Caucus. Paul Ryan: Quit in disgust. Kevin McCarthy: Forced out by Freedom Caucus. Mike Johnson: Spineless “Christian.” American politics isn’t broken, just the GOP.
And these are these same people who constantly attack Democrats, and when it's pointed out that they don't have the numbers to do much, insist "They should be speaking up!" But when they DO speak up, they dismiss it as "just words." It's clear they're only interested in attack Dems, nothing else.

Conservative protests are always treated as an organic cry of anger that manifests the distress of the unjustly ignored American heartland; protests from the center-left are always written off as noise from inside the bubble.
The Tea Party protests in April 2009 had about a third of a million people involved, and the political media treated it like a game changer for the Obama presidency. The No Kings rallies were AT LEAST ten times bigger than the Tea Party protests. Will the press keep pretending Trump is popular?
Really, @nytimes.com? He wasn't celebrating the Army's founding, and peaceful protests aren't a "show of force." Do better.
I wonder if Gavin Newsom is figuring out that, beside it just being the right thing to do, standing up to the MAGAs earns a lot more political capital than pretending to be just like them ...
Gov. Newsom has been delivering a master class after the big win the court today striking down Trump’s nationalizing & deploying of the National Guard in Los Angeles. Brilliant.
I'm pretty sure that if a court rules 47 lacks legal authority to do something, he can't hide behind immunity since that protects only official acts - and an action that exceeds his authority is not an official act. And the NG isn't immune from prosecution for obeying an illegal order. Sooo ...
BREAKING: Judge issues a temporary ruling against Trump using the National Guard in LA “The order requires Trump to return control of the National Guard to California Gov. Gavin Newsom by noon Friday (Pacific Time).” www.npr.org/2025/06/12/n...

You want to know why Thompson, Tapper, et al. spend their days hassling Dems? Because Dems *care*. Dems react. Dems make them feel like they have agenda-setting power. Dems beg & scrape for their approval. Republicans don't give a shit. Writing about GOP crimes doesn't bring the same ego boost.

Maybe everyone could take a break from all the recriminations now, seeing as they make no difference to anything relevant to our current crisis and there is no purpose in reliving it since it is never going to happen again?

Happy Birthday, Daddy.
Today, we honored the life and teachings of The Good Judge Nathaniel R. Jones on his 99th birthday. A group of brilliant lawyers discussed several of Judge Jones’ speeches and how his lessons are so relevant today - perhaps even more than when he delivered them. nrjfoundation.org/webinar-1/20...

I don't understand how the Times can never determine whether Trump is lying but can say with certainty when he is joking.
President Trump on Tuesday joked to reporters that he would like to be the next Pope. He took it a step further on Saturday, sharing what appeared to be an A.I.-generated photo of himself wearing the traditional vestments of the pontiff.

In the Christian faith tradition, Holy Thursday/Good Friday tells the story of a man of color unjustly arrested, jailed, and murdered by corrupt leaders. MAGA Christians want you to take the side of the murderers. Super work, kids. Jesus would be pleased. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/if-your-ch...
Listen to @repgreglandsman.bsky.social And not just because he's my Congressman ...
Trump and Republicans want to give more than $4 trillion in tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy and they’re planning to pay for it by gutting nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid. On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @repgreglandsman.bsky.social breaks down the math and what it will mean for Americans ⬇️
In simpler times (last year), when the Court took a case that could easily be disposed of with a simple "The Constitution says what it says, so stop wasting our time," I thought it meant they wanted to explain it more clearly for those in the back. Now my heart just sinks.

DEI for white Christians.
