I felt I really needed to write about Rowling's essay, not because it's new, but because it's so poisonous and ugly that it felt like sanitizing her not to acknowledge it on my trans news site.

Assigned Media@assignedmedia.org

There's no pretense left. J. K. Rowling made her hate for trans women clear in a slur-filled screed slurring them a dozen times and describing them as deceitful and dangerous. So writes @evanurquhart.bsky.social this morning on Assigned Media. *WARNING: Article quotes Rowling's hateful language.*

Someone needs to investigate the whole Ross family…

Diane Messias@comedywriter.bsky.social

He was working in Kemi Badenoch's office, which can draw on taxpayer funds to pay staff. At the time he was CEO of Turning Point UK. “Jack would come and go in the office and a few people raised their eyebrows, but it was brushed under the carpet because he got the party clicks on socials." 1/

Why hasn't Jack Ross been arrested?

Henry Dyer@direthoughts.com

Jack Ross, CEO of Turning Point UK and a former Conservative election candidate, has been suspended from the party in the wake of undercover sting by Al Jazeera reportedly showing him discussing the cost of hiring contract killers. Story from @benquinn75.bsky.social and me

These two were deeply involved in the appallingly bad Down Syndrome Act. The far right exploiting disabled people for their own vile ends.

This was Jack’s dad claiming that politicians were irritated by our ‘insidious noise’. I hope those MP’s will be watching the exposé when it airs.

Jack Ross and Nick Tenconi were leading supporters of Liam Fox’ appallingly divisive and counterproductive Down Syndrome Act. Ramandeep and I tried to warn MPs of this connection but were ignored.

Ramandeep Kaur@mumof3amigos.bsky.social

Jack Ross and TPUK need to be referred to PREVENT.

Blimey: Reform UK shouldn’t be allowed to run a whelk stall. Pure prejudice, ignorance and thuggishness from a bunch of Incompetent, swearing alcoholics. Utterly repulsive.

I’m hoping that the @ChildrensComm impressive looking report into the state of children’s lives in Britain includes the grotesque injustices endured by disabled children and their families.

The updated production of Manfred Karge’s Man To Man (Jacke wie Hose) at the Royal Court is an unforgettable piece of theatre. A masterful mesmerising performance by Tilda Swinton. 📸 Tristram Kenton

Tilda Swinton is truly astounding in Man to Man. Widowed in Germany in the 1930s she takes on her husband’s identity to survive war, poverty and political threat. Intensely physical and perfectly paced. It ends chillingly in the present day with the reemergence of the far right. Superb.

In all the talk about cutting welfare, can we start with the billions spent on care provided by private equity before we make life even harder for ordinary people with disabilities?

Bonnie Greer was never anybody but herself. So unique. So indomitable. So unaffected by the crowd. A lover of complexities and no easy answers. We were emailing in recent weeks about Jason Arday – she had much to say which she wasn't able to in the end. A mentor who lifted us up. We will miss you.
