Republican politicians are *obsessed* with schoolchildren coming home a different gender because of pro-trans teachers, WHICH NEVER HAPPENS. But they are completely indifferent to schoolchildren not coming home *at all* because of guns, WHICH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!

What an absolutely evil cunt Tom Watson has turned out to be.

Adam Bienkov@adambienkov.bsky.social

'Watson told the podcast he would work with a Reform UK government on immigration crackdowns if the situation arose, saying: โ€œ[Palantir] donโ€™t actually work in that sector, but yes, of course we would"' www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

AI *could* allow for people to do less hours for the same money. It won't of course. No technological gains ever result in working people getting the benefit. It will all go upwards, as it always does.

They think weโ€™re all idiots As Jon Stewart says โ€” if the goal is guaranteed income and jobs, why wait? Why is it only โ€œsocialismโ€ if we donโ€™t hand them trillions of dollars first?

Cruel and unusual punishment is against the US constitution. I know this document doesn't really matter these days, but it should.

i oppose the death penalty, but the botched execution of Christa Pike is particularly harrowing Since she was 18 Pike has been on death row for murder. She is now 50 & her execution day came. Belted to a gurney she experienced all the fear & pain of execution - but she didn't die. Its enough.

Wonder why they're sabre rattling over the Falklands? Same as last time.. distracting from failures at home. It's the poor and their young men that will suffer, and die for these rich egotists.. as always.

Mark Chadbourn@chadbourn.bsky.social

Argentina President Javier Milei is throwing the poor under the bus to boost his countryโ€™s economy. Reuters reports Argentinaโ€™s poverty rate rose to 32.3% in the first half of 2026, up from 28.2%. The Catholic University of Argentina estimates poverty could rise to 35% by the end of 2026.

Ah, so Reform having cornered the "let's punch down on migrants" market, means the Tories are now trying to own the "let's punch down on the poor" sector. The right, as ever, desperate to divide and make people blame the most vulnerable for problems *they* and their wealthy mates, cause.

The US already got a do over. A mulligan. A second chance. Much of the world, especially US allies, were ready to write off Trumpโ€™s first term as a fluke. The American peopleโ€™s choice to put him back in powerโ€”as a convicted felon, after an openly bigoted, anti-democracy campaignโ€”showed it was not.

Max Fawcett@maxfawcett.bsky.social

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.

Could govt explain to the majority of liberal, progressive voters in this country why our genuinely legitimate concerns - about the rise in racism and flag-waving thuggery on our streets, are repeatedly brushed aside while they pathetically pander to the racist angst of a nasty, uninformed minority?

For someone worried about their rights, their safety, or whether their family will survive a war, those concerns follow them in and out of any concert. Ed Sheeran, and people like him, fail to understand that being able to treat politics as optional is a privilege!
