I’m watching the Minnesota-Iowa game where we are getting Iowa political ads. I didn’t think it was possible but they are even worse than the Minnesota ads. Never seen so many strawman arguments coming from unaccountable PACs.

The food court at the Woodbury Costco is closed until the 24th. Installing a new floor. I usually get ice cream as my little ritual after shopping but sadly not this time.

My son has a replica of Gandalf's staff from LoTR for a Halloween costume. I was carrying it while one of the cats was trying to get into a forbidden room so I got to say "You Shall Not Pass!" while holding the staff.

i dont think the tech bros understand a whole generation of us grew up with an icon telling us exactly how to handle technology gone rogue

I wonder if this works with cats. I know it is soothing when I wake at 4am with a furry friend nearby.

A surprising new study finds that people who sleep near their dogs don’t experience disrupted sleep. If anything, the University of Toronto researchers discovered, we humans are the ones disturbing our dogs’ sleep.

Requested a library book in digital format a long time ago and have been sitting at #1 in the queue for several months. Decided to check for a physical copy and it's now being held, no wait, probably pick up tomorrow. Sometimes hard copy is faster.

We made it thru a regular checkup at the vet without any biting or clawing. That’s my standard for when I visit the doctor too, avoiding any biting. ;-)

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

I used to go to stationary stores in hopes of finding the perfect planner or notebook which would allow me to take command of my world. Wish it was that easy.

Watching a reaction video on "Black" by Pearl Jam. When I hear "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, in somebody else's sky, but why, why, why can't it be, oh, can't it be mine?" The anguish hits me every time, emotional response.

Logitech discontinued the mouse I've used for years, maybe decades, so I was forced to try a new model. I'm surprised by how much better my experience is with the new mouse. Unexpected.

I made a new recipe for dinner tonight w/ ground beef, onions, garlic, and noodles. It was OK but kinda meh. Lacking something. Maybe try again with some chili flakes.

New coffee today, a Kirkland (Costco) organic bean from Oaxaca state in Mexico. Smooth, medium roast, nice flavor with hints of caramel. My burr grinder is so old it was made in West Germany, but it still gets the job done.

I saw "Coyote vs. Acme" today. I love Looney Tunes and it was good to see it, even if Wile E. Coyote isn't my favorite. It wasn't to the level of "Back in Action" or "Space Jam", but it was a decent movie - definitely entertaining. And I felt seeing it was a message to studio bosses who bury movies.

I watched part of the Freedom 250 Indy Car race in DC today. I'm an F1 fan and this was my first experience w/ Indy Car. Not fair to judge because it was a first-time road course, but IMHO did not compare favorably to F1. Have to watch Indy Car again sometime on a dedicated track.

I watched the movie "Contagion" (2011) for the first time. They were prophetic about things which happened during COVID-19. It was uncomfortable to see.

Absolutely enormous respect to whoever understood that the necessary follow-up to “what if Reacher faced a larger man” is “what if Reacher held a tiny kitten”

This season on #Reacher…

I had to switch wet cat food because Purina Beyond has been discontinued. I tried some Purina One but it was chunks in sauce. My cats licked up the sauce and left the chunks. I switched to Purina Pro Plan in a pate and they cleaned their plates. Guess the pate texture is a hit.
