This is spot on to what I feel (YMMV) is too prevalent. The litanies of niche litmus tests are bullshit. They divide, don't unify. They're why people stay home vs voting for the "closest fit" candidates, fucking themselves and the test of us.

Hey man, if your posting history doesn't include a repudiation of all 2,628 topics that are existential to me, then you're no better than Trump! This is no laughing matter! Why are you laughing? Are you laughing at me?!??

Mostly Firenze current streets, but one older one behind plexiglass from those who built the Cappelle Medicee. It's a short distance from the OG frescoes to current art. #streetart

well, well, well.

Trump voted in this election — casting a ballot BY MAIL while he and his administration are trying to eliminate mail ballots. His candidate lost the race to represent Mar-a-lago.

Retired French General Michel Yakovleff: “The US asks us for help and wants us to share the cost of their fiascos. Joining Trump’s coalition today is like buying a ticket to dinner and dancing on the Titanic the evening after it hit the iceberg.”

All too brief, the 2026 #BM100 has ended with no finishers. What a ride, with all credit to @keithdunn.bsky.social for the updates and commentary. Also, it's a fun community that comes together here once a year for this.

The 2026 Barkley Marathons is over. There are no finishers. #BM100

I cannot believe that I missed the first 13 hours of the #BM100. That's what I get for being riveted to the last hours of the Atlas Mountain Race. At least this won't overlap with the 2026 #ITIAlaska

So, if I had waited in that outside line for the inside line, would I have been able to snag a loaf of their rosemary olive bread? I bet not. Time to rethink what to have with the minestrone soup tonight.

this PSA is, as said below, incredibly powerful.

Aaron Parnas@aaronparnas.bsky.social

NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen. Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

Who came up with the ad campaign for PWC? This stuff is the worst possible consultant-speak and seems like a Hail Mary attempt at relevance. Where #McKinsey goes, PwC may follow.

all the drama of the Trump administration is designed to distract us from: (a) the real stuff happening in our world; and (b) from the ways the Trump admin is making our world more hostile to humanity.

Bill McKibben@billmckibben.bsky.social

In the long run, this is actually going to be the important news of the day--co2 in the atmosphere passes another grim milestone

the badness continues. we should not be surprised, but that does not mean we can be complacent.

The president told a Central American dictator to build five more massive slave labor camps to hold US citizens.

Just watched this for the first time. every time i feel weak or "stuck," I will watch this again.

You have to see this. PoliticsGirl and her husband teamed up with the brilliant Timothy Snyder (author of On Tyranny) and the legendary John Lithgow to create something truly powerful. It’s important, it’s urgent—and it needs to be shared far and wide.

I haven't fact-checked, but these are literally the stories that prove national investment in a wide range of research benefits all of society, including the economy. Unfortunately, the capitalists think private sector will just do this, successfully, on its own.

Christopher Mims@mims.bsky.social

Important note about this breakthrough: Literally would not exist without the kind of Federal support the current administration is slashing. Took 15+ years of research at a federal lab (Lawrence Berkeley) to get this to a point at which private enterprise could take over and make these at scale.

“Want a chair?” a spectator asks. “No..chairs are for finishers,” John replies. In the howling wind and rain, John Kelly completes a “Fun Run” at the 2025 Barkley Marathons in 39 hours and 50 minutes. Afterward, he takes the ceremonial bugle and plays his own taps.

Overheard at a Hyundai dealer just now: Customer: "I'm interested in an Ionic 6" Sales: "do you own an EV today?" Cust: "yes, a Tesla" Rep: "how do ya like it?" Cust: "...well...that's why I'm here"

Neighbor cat got high on nip in our garden today and then asked for belly rubs. I know better - belly touches lead to serious risk of massive bloodshed. He's a good boy, though.

fuck this. just fuck this. I'm sitting here without power again, after 3 days without and 3 days back. And, so, I look at the forecast to see when our winds will abate, to see this lovely notice.

well, this is a bummer. Can-Am 2024 Sled Dog Races are cancelled due to lack of snow / incoming warm+rainy weather. I'm sorry for all the teams who'd planned to participate this year. Looks like mud season is starting early here in Maine.

You are up to date.
