Average Trump scandal: many people dead after uncontroversial government program illegally cut by doge for nonexistent savings Average mamdani scandal: he’s playing BASKETBALL with his FRIENDS

Funniest thing about this is that the AI would probably not need the human for the animal clicking task

Colin@colin-fraser.net

Back in the day I thought it was a big deal when I had to start checking email once a day rather than once a week

weeder@weeder.bsky.social

Back in the day you could look at the internet for up to an hour without getting mad.

Surprisingly have not stumbled anything like this in 2026. I think AI hype has finally killed the blockchain gaming hype

Kyle Orland@kyleor.land

Really looking forward to reading a version of this fucking headline every year for the rest of my fucking life.

I think Trump surviving the Access Hollywood tape convinced the media at large that no one cares about this stuff vis a vis Trump

mtsw@mtsw.bsky.social

Used to be that the political media would play up the salaciousness of a sex scandal but for Trump they cover it like he got caught turning in his TPS reports late bsky.app/profile/dgst...

The Cheesecake Factory “controversy” is nice because it’s a rerun of the exact kind of stupid shit we had to sit through every day of the Obama administration. Now Zoomers don’t have to feel left out of having their own Obama “controversy” to reference.

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

It is inconceivable to me how often Valve feels the need to update my Steam Controller. What in the world was wrong with the update I installed two days ago, or the one a few days before that?!

I’d probably be less annoyed if it didn’t mean physically plugging the controller in via USB each time. The whole point of the wireless puck is so I don’t have to care about wires!

At some point we have to align election results with legislative results (at least in the case of trifectas) and that means getting rid of the filibuster

ryan cooper@ryanlcooper.com

like table stakes to be able to even understand what is going on is being aware of the Senate filibuster, a thing that is so deranged that it wouldn't even occur to someone to design it on purpose and is nowhere in the Constitution

In my experience vibe coding some games on Meta's platform, I'd say this is mostly accurate, but also that the slot machine "paid out" and interpreted my prompts correctly way more than I expected arstechnica.com/gaming/2026/...

arstechnica.comPocket's AI made my game ideas real. Now Meta controls the results.Interactive mobile "gizmos" are easy to make, hard to share outside Meta's platform.
michael lutz@ztul.bsky.social

I'm sure it's good that over the past several days I have seen multiple vibecoding people say their individual versions of "yeah this is like playing a slot machine for me and I find it hard to stop and I love that actually"

"the baby computer" as a derogatory term for a traditional console definitely has legs

Chris Person@papapishu.bsky.social

Sorry still thinking of $1,200-$1,800 dollar console just conceptually. Those are Real Computer numbers. You can just get a real computer for that kinda cash. The entire premise of the console is “this is a baby computer you don’t control but it’s standardized and affordable” but they can’t do that.

This might actually be a legitimate case except that ranked-choice voting makes it functionally a non-issue. Anyone who's confused can just rank the same-named candidates at 1-2 to have their intent recognized

* TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SUES TO BLOCK ALASKA SENATE RACE CERTIFICATION IF REPUBLICAN LOSES, CITING CANDIDATE NAME CONFUSION -- AP REPORTER ON X @reuters.com #AKsen

I suppose you could argue there's a chance that enough people are confused that it splits the vote and the "wrong" Dan Sullivan makes it past the first round. But polls suggest the vast majority of voters know which is which

~1M discs a year across all of Xbox in the US really puts into perspective just how much digital has taken over

Mat Piscatella@matpiscatella.bsky.social

US new physical software unit sales for Xbox consoles totaled just over 100k in Sept, down from just over 160k a year ago. 2026 YTD new physical software unit sales for Xbox have yet to reach 900k. Something to watch in October with the full implementation of the Xbox Disc-to-Digital program.

Wake up, hun, maximum quality wallpaper-eating Toad just dropped

Supper Mario Broth@mariobrothblog.bsky.social

Previously I have posted about a Nintendo of Europe downloadable premium animated wallpaper that featured a bizarre Toad eating the wallpaper. The files have finally been datamined, allowing the Wallpaper-Eating Toad to be observed in never-before-seen maximum quality.

What video game folks want to do this with me for the Game Awards?

Grant Brisbee@grantbrisbee.bsky.social

i think a group of, like, 30 baseball accounts with 1000-plus followers should coordinate a time tonight to pretend like they're all tweeting about the same World Series play and freak everyone else out.

Twenty years from now people are going to be talking about how amazing Mass Effect 4 would have been if it had been given a chance. (Not even saying they'll be wrong, just noting this is how legends get started)

"A delayed game is eventually good. A rushed game is forever bad. But a canceled game will always be perfect in the public's imagination." -Shigeru Miyamoto, probably

This would be like me saying I had never heard of Mass Effect until hearing about the closure of BioWare yesterday

John O’Donnell@jodami.bsky.social

Maybe the BBC should get someone who actually knows what he is talking about then.

A Democrat winning the Montana house race would be a huge help in the all-important "how much of a geographical House map looks blue" metric

ashley fairbanks@ziibiing.com

wait a democrat is polling +3 in montana’s congressional race and he is a smokejumper that looks like this? why has no one told the thirsty masses?

To honor one of the studios that defined PC gaming, we've republished more than 20 articles about BioWare today. The pcgamer.com homepage is dedicated to interviews, retrospectives, and making-ofs about some of the best RPGs of all time.

The 100+% increases over 7 years are a bit much (and we’re driven by ridiculously low I to prices for new services), but inflation increased overall nominal prices by 34% in this period, so 40-60% nominal increases don’t seem ludicrous to me

This post is unavailable.

All the “bring back cable” people ignore the fact that (1) you can pick and choose which of these to subscribe to, (2) you can subscribe for a month to binge a few shows to catch up and (3) cable is/was ridiculously more expensive than this

Another useful thing about him is he has no charisma and can not sell all this the way Trump can

Sal Gentile@salgentile.bsky.social

one useful thing about JD Vance is that he proves there’s no “going back to normal” after Trump. Vance is the future of the GOP and that future is a party that revels in being Truly Fucking Awful. the whole shtick is just being A Really Bad Guy and then going “oh are you triggered by how Bad I am?”

In 2016, we published potentially the largest single feature to ever appear in Game Informer magazine with a full oral history of the legendary studio, BioWare. We've made that feature available online following reports of the studio's impending closure. gameinformer.com/feature/2026...

I strongly believe that video game criticism is itself a loving act of games preservation, something increasingly important as both the people making games and the people covering games get tossed aside

When I was 15 I would sit with Dragon Age: Origins and save before every big dialogue. I would replay them over and over and physically write out the trees. I didn’t know at that point that writing or narrative design was even a job I could have. They had such an enormous impact as a studio.
