Ok so now i’ve settled in a little, maybe it’s time for an intro post: I’m an award winning transfeminine writer for stage, screen and audio. My work centres trans folk, and transfems specifically but on a wider note i’m interested in exploring stories of othering & being othered. also i’m hot x

thank you Vic Rodriguez for gorgeously and hilariously repping the queer to over 30 to birder pipeline. bowing down before the stunning Nicola Beck for speaking truth and rage to the power of words 🙌🏻 and @aubreyblakeledge.bsky.social for bringing the sound of giant tortoises fucking into my life

i got a big job rejection today, and it felt like shit. but they told me i was in the top 1.25% of applicants, and i’m trying to be proud of getting that far regardless. if only pride paid the bills eh?

last night i bumped into the legendary Beverly Glenn Copeland in the street, a few hours before i saw him live - then this morning i swam in the sea and read my book on the beach. Brighton you always steal my heart 💖

5 months ago i nearly died due to complications from bottom surgery. today i swam underneath a waterfall in the yorkshire moors with my oldest friends.

trans women deserve the world, we deserve the freedom i felt today, the joy i feel in my body & the hope i now hold for the future. Gender affirming surgery is terrifying, sometimes it goes wrong, but even then - it is life saving.

Not standing for this advert. It's a hateful attack on our friends. They'll get a surprise if lots of us call. Editor Laura Webster editor@thenational.scot 0141 302 7000 The National, 125 Fullarton Drive, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, G32 8FG

Péter Magyar victory speech: "We want to make a country where no one is persecuted because they think differently or because someone loves in a different way to others." He may not have campaigned as a liberal. But this is a huge change of direction and rhetoric from Orbán’s anti-LGBTQ+ crusade.

I’ve decided to try and give bluesky another go, mainly as i’m trying to wean myself off instagram but also because i’m currently having a lot of feel bigs and sometimes it helps to just write them down and throw them out into the abys.

the time difference is scaring me cause i won’t be able to call my friends after a rough day at uni, or just text my mum and get an immediate response?

i know all these things are so tiny & im so privilidge to have gotten a scollarship to be able to do this… but fuck me now it’s actually happening i’m petrified.

I’m taking a bet on myself & doing a masters at UBC in canada - but i’m 36 years old? how do you make friends as an adult? especially an autistic transexual adult?

i know i need a change. i know i need to shake things up to grow my writing and my networks but… i’m so fucking scared. I feel too old to be starting totally afresh, especially as a single girlie too?

the past 6 months have been some of the hardest of my life, i had bottom surgery & had many complications - but thanks to my family i was safe and looked after at least.

now i’m preparing to leave the home i’ve lived in for 7 years, the city i’ve lived in for 18 and the country i’ve lived in my entire life - and as an auditif person, change is hard.

overheard (in a thick brummy accent) in the toilet at the #ScissorSisters gig tonight: “I’ve used my husbands nose hair clippers tonight - gotta admit it!”

the news is hell and we live in hell but today i co-hosted a brunch for myself and 10 other trans girls, co-hosted and cooked by an amazing ally and it was so so so wholesome and magical and beautiful.

as my belly tattoo says: we *can* build our own heavens. the fight is important but please remember find time for joy, find time to giggle, find time to love yourself and your community.

guys the worst thing has happened: so i’m on a gross weightloss journey so the NHS will let me get bottom surgery and i have a PT who i have to send progress photos to each week right? so far so normal.

i had to scroll past a bunch of pictures from this T Boy Gogo competition called DRILLED, and i accidentally clicked one of those photos & sent my PT a picture of 15 half naked trans mascs humping the stage instead of a picture of my back

the app my PT uses for the progress though, is kinda janky - it does what it needs to, but you only get one option to upload your pictures… once it’s uploaded you can’t delete the pictures

now i took my progress photos a few days ago, because that’s when they were due, this means i had to scroll through a few pictures before i got to my progress photos

The Glass Menagerie at @theyardtheatre.bsky.social is fucking beautiful - think i’m gonna need to write more over on substack because it was my first revisit of my favourite play since transitioning and my god it hits so much harder when you stop identifying with Tom and become Laura…

I’ve had a year full of rejections so far, and i’ve really been questioning my place in this industry but today i got a voice note from a playwright i don’t know, whose brilliant play i had just seen - explaining how the show and their career was a direct result of a group i set up.

i’ve never made theatre for the establishment or for a traditional audience - but the work i have made has a life far bigger and far more impactful that i can even know.

i’m not saying i won’t end up leaving the industry, but if i do i will no longer do so with shame. i can hold my head up high and know i made an impact and my legacy will live on in all the queer writers who follow in my size 9 footprints.

obviously this writer was speaking hyperbolically because what actually got their career going was hard work & talent, but it was a reminder of why i do what i do.

Very powerful, and very much a play of two halves, 'Otherland' at the Almeida Theatre ✍️ by Chris Bush, of 'Standing At The Sky's Edge' fame, features an all-female cast led by one of my stage faves, Jade Anouka with Fizz Sinclair. At heart romantic and inclusive, it also leans into myth and futurism
