Dr. Axel

#axelreads #12 Hitting the silly goal I set for number of books read this year with a belter: Wickhills by @premeemohamed.com It's a proper ride of a book with wonderfully bonkers world building and absolute confidence in the readers ability to keep up and figure it out. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

And that reminded me that I explored exactly that question a year or so back (featuring the lovely Harry from @dicecompany.bsky.social ) and that it also feels appropriate for the season, too...

A tender moment between 2 best friends. From @forcemajeurepod.bsky.social

Vasa Museum, as well as being amazing, is an absolute treasure trove of weird little guys.

From my notebook. My philosophy, while writing books, for the last ten years.

Bring Down the Sky Episode 06 - Death From Above! With alien monstrosities plummeting towards them and something even bigger and scarier blocking their way out, can the fireteam hold out long enough for Valkyrie to carve them an exit? Acid hisses and gravity warps - it's the Mecha Hack!

#axelreads #11 Final installment in the binge for the moment (I think) Notebook by Tom Cox. Again absolutely delightful and makes me want to keep a diary or commonplace book

#axelreads #10 The binge continues. Slightly less relaxing but still delightfully odd

Make any comment about the evil of AI on the internet and you will inevitably get people saying, "Ah, but you can't halt progress." You know what else people thought was progress not long after it came into common use? Asbestos.

A Mecha Hack RPG that I’m following. It’s been a lot of fun so far.

🚨 ALARM 🚨 Chapter 110 of our Small Embers D&D campaign - Return to the Fingers - is OUT NOW

Exhausted, but with still so much to do, our heroes desperately try to get some rest and do some planning before things escalate any further... #ttrpg #StarWars #actualplay

#axelreads #9 Continuing my Tom Cox streak with this. Again just exactly the kind of thing I need to be reading right now. Just so relaxing for me

Available today! Episode 1 of our brand new #MechaHack actual play podcast - BRING DOWN THE SKY! Played using the excellent Mecha Hack by @mattclick.bsky.social and @absolutetabletop.bsky.social ! Available wherever you get your podcasts

Look at this! Or listen I suppose! It's new! it's Mecha! Adam is a hack! no wait that's not true! I'll summarize with: Go listen it's great😁

Please be vocal about not using AI. We have to normalize it. No "I'm not going to say that because it should be assumed. I'm not going to give them this". We don't have time for that shit ideological shit right now. NOW is the time to capitalize on waning favorability. Ppl want human made

#AxelReads #6 A drop of corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett. Started this series by recommendation from @maddambeltaine.bsky.social and I am very happy I did. The second installment is in fact even better than the first.

#AxelReads #6 Bookshops and Bonedust by Travis again. Also a stunning book, if a touch less special to me perhaps. Still lovely though!

Ok I have forgotten to update this so let's see what we have. #AxelReads #5 Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree. Honestly did not expect to love this book as much as I did. But as a coffee person the descriptions almost made me cry in ways I did not see coming. Learned something about myself.

Heck yes - look at this👀👀👀 Custom art! By an awesome guy! For my game! Now I just need to finish it 😆

Having worked in (and written a book about) local news, I'm ridiculously excited to feature in Dartmoor's local paper, the Moorlander

Blood on the Shoals : 3 : False Witness The captain’s quarters of HMS Cornwallis were as far from the Golden Herring as Grisslehamn could offer without leaving the harbour entirely. Outside, the village was rain, shouting, fish stink, and fear. Inside, beneath the poop deck, the British Empire had…

I was on BBC Radio Devon earlier, talking about my new book (listen from 1hr 41m 23s into the show) More about the book here 👉 alexmorrison.co.uk 📚

Um ok so recovering from surgery has been a challenge and I am terrible at promoting myself. July 31st is the last day of my sale in my shop. Code SUMMER for 25% off. #dice #dnd #ttrpg #ttrpgcommunity

What happens when the players of @dicecompany.bsky.social show up on @forcemajeurepod.bsky.social Dungeon Majeure? Total chaos, and a lot of fun.

Truly incredibly myopic, and revealing a blatant lack of grasp for scales of funding and the value brought by fundamental science. I can only hope someone with some sense can reverse this #SaveJodrellBank

Lovely article about my novel in the Dartmoor newspaper, the Moorlander

While I am waiting tensely for the next installment of worry ftom Force Majeure, I’ve gone back to some delightful absurdity that is Dungeon Majeure. @weaselpunk.bsky.social and his portrayal of Ragnok the Mad (I can’t even think it without the voice). Go listen. @forcemajeurepod.bsky.social

We've had some lovely reviews (and good download numbers) for our new Mothership feed - Darkstar Here's a clip 👇 And here's the show on Apple Podcasts 👉 podcasts.apple.com/co/podcast/d...

I would really recommend it because chill Sunday breakfast while listening to Dice Company is just so pleasant

This week's episode was so tense it's caused not one, but two #mamasmoments We're only 12 episodes in to perhaps the best season we've ever had, and it's a standalone season to boot as well - no need to have listened to any of our other stories to know the backstory or anything. Start here:

My debut novel - the Wolf of Wistman's Wood - is OUT TODAY! Please buy a copy and help me spread the word Buying options: - Your local bookshop can order one for you - Many online bookshops - eg Blackwell's (in paperback and hardback) 👇

I just ordered this book by @alexmorrison81.bsky.social: all round nice person and - according to Tom - disgustingly talented. I'm very excited!👀👀

Today’s episode is a serious one, so have a serious snippet. And go listen to @forcemajeurepod.bsky.social . It’s getting very intense.

There are threats looming against my favorite characters and I will not take it lightly if anything were you happen to them. Just putting that out there @tcpatrick.bsky.social

Blood on the Shoals : 1 : The Road to the Coast Morning came to Castle Gyllencreutz on the ninth of November, grey and cold, with Uppsala still bearing the bruises of the storm. The streets below had not yet returned to themselves, and neither had the Society. They had come back from the asylum…

In which Kip only answers the call to adventure because of the chance of standing forlornly in the rain.
