i don't perceive nations or ideologies anymore, only the smooth, borderless expanse of the steppe. just a glimpse into how cybermongolian my mind is becoming

J.G Ballard has this set of stories in some bohemian rich village or something in which all the artist exclusively use AI to create their art, and yet, every single method of creating art described by him produces things that a million times more interesting than real AI art

There's this self-painting portraits that work like long-exposure photography over days and he describes as evolving backwards through art movements of the XXc, like, from pollock to surrealism to cubism to futurism to impressionism

Every Scramble For The Arctic guy or person obsessed with Arctic security ought to be bluntly asked where the financial underpinning of all of this is. Where are the huge resource extraction projects that require this shipping capacity and attract dangerous foreign pressure? The answer is nowhere.

The high north is an environment we chiefly need to look after from a human security perspective, and as a fairly strategic neighborhood for things like missile defence and maritime domain awareness. But Canada has tried repeatedly to turn it into a treasure chest and failed every single time.

This got flagged for ‘intolerance’ when it’s objectively true

Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

A serious weakness in this paper by King and Worthington: The judges for the AI peer reviews are *not* experts in the field. They are former journal editors but no claim is made to substantive expertise in the reviewed papers. AI-generated reviews sound good *if you don't know the substance well.*

Ok turns out a character with dementia in a tv show makes me very, very sad since a person in my family had awfully bad dementia before they died, good to know, just like cancer

Estoy leyendo un texto clásico que constantemente hace referencia a en aquel momento las tres democracias presidencialistas más antiguas y estables: Estados, Costa Rica y Venezuela

"Republicans finally have their 'Goth Groypette' house candida” You bolt awake at Angels 2 near Tarawa. It’s 11/20/43. You are not online. You are flying a Hellcat watching 20 Bettys racing toward Task Force 50.3, and you have changed your mind. The future cannot come to pass. They must be shot down

The GOP's white-nationalist fringe is knocking on the doors of Congress. @willsommer.bsky.social on Colorado's Kelley Dennison, whose embrace of Nick Fuentes's antisemitic movement could make her the first groyper-allied major-party nominee for federal office. lnk.thebulwark.com/4zMBM0G?utm_...

I for one disavow the Muslim Brotherhood, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, the entirety of the Ubisoft Montreal Assassin's Creed Brotherhood dev team, and the criminally underrated New Order album "Brotherhood"

I disavow the Muslim Brotherhood, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (they know why) and every musical artist or stage musical actor that has, at any point, sung the phrase "brotherhood of man."

A friend of mine told me that back in college he was dating an Asatru girl and she told him “unlike you Abrahamics I worship the old gods“ and he responded “the Tanakh was finished more than a millennium before the poetic edda, your gods are Johnny-come-latelys compared to mine“ and she dumped him

Some Indian nationalists, not inherently friendly to their British overlords, are still supporting the war effort: "It has taken us 100 years to teach the English how to govern us and we can’t afford the time to begin again on the Germans."
