the markets have essentially become a gauge for how much corruption the government in power is going to let the business class get away with

Suck ass, The Economist

really wish I'd stop getting texts telling me to go vote. Or reminding me I voted in every past election (guess what geniuses--I'm gonna keep doing it) I am not driving half an hour to go pay for parking down town when I can just wait until election day and walk to the elementary school.

“We’re going to shame and pressure you into being civically engaged!” Dipshits, you are preaching to the choir. You don’t have the phone numbers of the people who this message might work on.

It doesn’t work on me because I already *obviously* care. And I seriously resent the tone of the message and the interruption to my daily life. Eat shit!

On our trip to Vermont a week or two ago, I was astounded at how many solar panels I saw. Many houses had their own arrays. My wife’s uncle had a huge set of them to power his home. I know it’s more of a necessity up there because of the rural-ness of the area, but I was still impressed.

Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth. Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why. www.bbc.co.uk/future/artic...

I only heard of Eric Bauza last week when someone shared that Porky Pig Taken clip. Sad that I don’t get to see his continued work as I get older. Too bad I didn’t know about him earlier.

I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

someone asked for lofi Halloween music so I shared a bunch of 90s black metal with them I know that's not what they meant but lofi is NOT a genre, zoomers

You know, we got some good advice from Brazil today--ignore the opposition, don't repost their bullshit on social media. I think we have to extend that same concept to these dead end centrist weirdos that play dumb while simultaneously acting like the smartest person with a keyboard.

Just had an ad for American Horror Story that I interrupted by skipping it, but Jessica Lange popped up and said "it's good to be--" and I cut her off I don't know how AHS has made it this far. Go away, you freak.

Fuck these stupid parents. I hate sports culture. Had my five year olds in soccer this past spring, got chewed out by the opposing team’s coach because my son was playing grab-ass with kids on the other team. They. Are. Kids. None of them have the same talent. Not all of them are interested either!

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.

These people are fucking crazy. Thinking they’ve got the next Pele, instead of teaching their kids that sports should be first and foremost a fun social activity.

I mean, this kid in this video could be a star, who knows. But they’re mad that he’s shattering the illusion that *their* kid could be, and that’s why they’re offended.

If anyone is honestly offended about the Cheesecake Factory bullshit, I need you to hear this: That is not your culture. You do not owe allegiance to a corporate brand. Dumbest fucking simp behavior on earth. Go get a Cracker Barrel tattoo or something, jfc. You make me sick.

I’m just now realizing that stupid-fuck-youtuber-I’ve-never-heard-of-embroiled-in-scandal is a news story I’m just going to be seeing a lot more of as I get older and I fucking REJECT THIS

so like, you can catch a football at a pickup game in the park, and run to the endzone, and just keep running, and run all the way to the stadium, and spike the ball in the endzone in the stadium? what does "open-world football game" even mean

EA Sports has announced that it is working on a new open-world football game that the company calls "Project Gridiron," which seems to be separate from Madden and College Football. https://bit.ly/4z63a9U

Some of the football players are smoking underneath the bleachers, and they're not dressed for practice. I crouch-sneak over to the sideline and snag a set of Shoulderpads +1, but the coach sees me and blows his whistle. My cover is blown! Time to hightail it out of here!

I run 9 blocks and throw up my hot dog. I buy a gatorade for more Football Energy. I put on my Shoulderpads +1 and speak with the guys in the park again. They can see I have stolen high school equipment. They tell me to leave. I steal their football and run to the endzone and SPIKE IT. SIX POINTS!

I wake up in my apartment and throw on a sweat suit, take the elevator downstairs. I catch a cab to the park and eat a hot dog. Now I have Football Energy. I am ready to Football. I see some guys playing a pick-up game. I walk over to them and ask if I can join.

I fail a speech check, and they tell me to come back when I've got good enough gear to play with them. A quest marker pops up showing me where I can get some gear. I walk over to the local high school, where the team is practicing.
