GOP-aligned press: "Mayor Mamdani is so BUSTED!"
New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a group of his friends have been secretly using the NYPD Police Academy’s gymnasium in Queens to play pickup basketball — scrambling some operations at the facility. w/ @grahamrayman.bsky.social & Joe Anuta www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

All of this, plus... The Meat Barons would be a fantastic name for a band.
Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.
So the bigots who invaded the Portland Thorns match on Friday and doxxed and harassed supporters online afterward are actually promoting... state-sanctioned sexual assault of teenage girls. Disgusting. This planet needs an enema.
conservatives in washington state want freedom and small government in the form of state-mandated genital exams for high school students: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
FFS, how am I supposed to hate the Thorns when their supporters are out here fighting the good fight against these dumbass TERFs and their hate-fueled brain-dead BS? This xx/xy nonsense is a tool of the Confederacy. Stomp it out wherever you see it.
Some hateful folks in the North End have their messaging blocked by flags and lead to a “Trans Lives Matter” chant
Because "Serious News Outlets" are tied to companies that accept money from both parties in exchange for ad placement. Where do y'all think the $4 million that Vivek is spending on those vile ads are going? TV stations. Do you think their news departments aren't fundamentally compromised by this? 🧵
It's bleak that Serious News Outlets will tie themselves into knots writing headlines that obscure the horrors of a story while @people.com just waltzes in and calls it like it is.

This is a large part of the reason why most major news outlets don't bother speaking truth to power. They're either OWNED by power, or they don't want to offend the power using ad money to pay their salaries. That and there are so few others willing to do TV ads anymore, save these for PR shills.
“If I see a commercial that begins with a tasteful montage of Americans doing super-serious, deeply American things, that ad will inevitably end with a plug for AI, Meta pinky-swearing to keep my kids safe, or a promise that Jesus gets me.” www.sfgate.com/tech/article...

TV stations *could* say no to ads funded by Elon Musk's PACs, but why would they say no to $442 million? Come to think of it, if TV stations DID say no to that ad money, would cowardly-ass Brendan Carr use his FCC power to go after their broadcast licenses, claiming a lack of "fairness"?
Nobody should be able to spend this amount of money on anything, let alone this www.politico.com/live-updates...
REMINDER: Jimmy and Dee Haslam, the owners of Columbus' future #NWSL club, paid for that ad.
You know what pissed me off about the Ramaswamy ad beyond the obvious grotesqueries? There’s no EVIDENCE disputing Acton’s life story. There are court proceedings backing up her story. And all Ramaswamy’s got is the (accused) mother saying “nu uh” and somehow that’s enough? FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

James Dolan won the title and called a crisis PR firm for an emergency strategy meeting to come up with new ways to prove to people that he is still Evil
this is fucking appalling. i already knew james dolan (who owns the knicks and madison square garden) was a douche but this is next-level. www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...
People are talking about James Bond on the Sky again, so I'm dusting off this old skeet to share. I can guarantee neither Denis Villenueve nor anyone at MGM has the balls to do this.
If Bond gets another reboot, the films or series should be faithful recreations of Ian Fleming's novels -- hardcore spy thrillers set in the 1950s, full of actual Nazis, and not afraid to show Bond's sexism and racism as it was originally written.
Featured in this list: Jimmy Haslam, his wife, and a Haslam Sports Group Exec named David Jenkins. I wonder how @nwslsoccer.com and @nwslplayers.bsky.social might react to the league's newest ownership group helping pay for Vivek Ramaswamy's recent campaign ad. You know the one.
heres a list of all of viveks big money donors this campaign, if you wanna ask some of them how they feel about his recent ad docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
Reminder: Haslam Sports Group paid the NWSL $205 million for an expansion club in Columbus, OH. Fellow NWSL club supporters, we have two game weeks left to speak up about this.
Beau told us years ago about everything that's clearly happening now in front of our faces. I miss Beau.

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” HL Mencken, July 1920

"First single you bought with your own money. No lying!" The year was 1980. I don't remember how I got the quarters, but I remember seeing a new single from Hall and Oates at Hills and choosing that over playing the Targ machine in the hallway.
First single you bought with your own money. No lying! Mine: "Red Box - Lean on Me (Ah-Li-Ayo)", 1985. Still know every word.
Yes, Targ was a real arcade game, and a particularly shitty one.
Mike Masnick is not fucking around with y'all in this thread.
One more thought on the whole "people going back to X" thing. I'm obviously quite biased, but I really think that atproto (which powers Bluesky and others) is about building a better internet in so many ways. But that requires people to use it. The answer to that is to build something better...
