I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

Vivek Ramaswamy’s ad targeting Amy Acton’s childhood sexual abuse backfired. It prompted Ohio’s largest newspaper, The Plain Dealer, to reverse its policy on political endorsements and endorse Acton for governor.

Before the 2008 crash, Wall Street hid massive financial risks using accounting tricks. Now Big Tech appears to be following the same playbook. Americans and our entire economy are at risk because Trump’s regulators are choosing to look the other way.

Your colleagues stole 3 of my novels and countless other works, were found to have done so, and ordered to pay up. They still haven't cut us any checks. So spare me the diatribe on how wonderful and inspiring they are. You worked for crooks.

My colleagues at Anthropic are the most talented, thoughtful, competent, and earnest people I have ever met. I am glad they are at the wheel and trust them deeply. To the community on X, thank you for everything. You’ve made this the most fun (and sometimes stressful) job I’ve ever had.

This is not just a story about one community. It's about all communities, and how immigration enforcement is changing their relationships with their police departments. It begs the question: what have we, as a society, signed up for?

Alexander says it isn’t his fault when drivers break traffic laws, and that he’s just doing his job when he stops them. He says it isn’t his fault that some drivers end up being people who had entered the country illegally. But he still grapples often with the fallout.

But the weight of what Alexander was doing started to settle on him late last year. He said he gets flashbacks about a specific traffic stop, when he handed ICE the husband of a woman he knew. It was between Christmas and New Year’s. She was less than 2 weeks postpartum.

I wanted to know more. I spent several hours talking to the officer, Jaron Alexander, and he’s not a self-professed true believer in Trump’s mass deportation campaign. So why had he decided to help deport his neighbors?

We knew that in September 2025, ICE announced new incentives for the 287(g) police partnership program, including a $100K vehicle stipend, quarterly performance bonuses + overtime pay for officers. Ingram opted in. That meant its cops would serve as deputy immigration agents.
