This is decisively incorrect. Trump has created problems for the whole world in terms of trade, security, health, climate, economic security, and more, not to mention inspiring other nations to go on a toxic, racist bender of their own.

Brexit is worst for the UK, but it's plenty bad for Europe. Leadership in China decides the price and availability of goods around the world, leadership in the middle east decides how oil is distributed. At this point there's very little that happens anywhere that doesn't affect us all in some way.

Beyond horrifying. This must end. Police and government forces are servants of the public, they must be held accountable.

JUST IN: The police shooting that killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley as he sat in his mother’s lap in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Miss., in June “was justified,” Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office said on Monday. Her office will not charge the white officer who shot the child.

hot take: sucking energy out of people to power your cities won't end well.

Japan is using piezoelectric floor tiles in busy areas like Shibuya and Tokyo Stations to convert footsteps into clean electricity. Original post

It's staggering to me that people are still doing the "what can you do?" shrug and buying gas powered cars.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

With 50 days until the midterms, I urge you all to: 1) Help get out the vote. 2) Protect our electoral machinery from interference. 3) Not succumb to complacency, defeatism, or cynicism. We are the only ones who can end this nightmare. We are the leaders we’ve been waiting for.

Reviews of new gas cars have the same tone as latex-gloved unboxing videos of 1950s rotary telephone sets.

I don't ever want to hear an elected official tell me what needs to be done. Tell us what you did, let that be the measurement of your performance.

If it was really about election integrity, this is what they would do. The fact that they're not doing this, that they're making it harder to vote and trying to remove people from the voter rolls tells you everything you need to know about their true intentions.

>300 million people in the US $300 billion to Iran Which means, roughly: $1,000 for *every* person in this country including children who don’t pay taxes

The amount of clean power the world needs right now is staggering. There's an abundance of cheap green energy that's not making its way on to the grid in the countries that can afford it, let alone the countries that can't. Solve the energy crisis and the "Data Center issue" becomes uninteresting.

Paul Murphy TD@paulmurphy.pbp.ie

Data centre electricity demand is projected to exceed the entire power consumption of the state. Already, data centres are adding an estimated €1.6 billion to Irish households’ electricity bills, while paying around half the rate charged to ordinary consumers. This model is unsustainable.

Hundreds of billions in taxpayer dollars funneled to corporations and rich people either directly or through massive tax breaks.

I don't want to choose, and I don't think there's anything other than political incompetence that forces us to - We can explore space - We can experiment responsibly with new technology - Every living person can have health, food, and shelter - We can respect and maintain the environment All at once

So many people thinking the GOP is capable of governing, if only they would ____. They don't have the job you think they have. Their job has 3 parts: - do whatever it takes to get/stay elected - find creative ways to self-serve as much as possible - create whatever laws are needed to avoid penalties

Honda Super N - I think there’s a huge untapped market for cheap EVs, but this car is a recipe for failure. Having owned a 2011 Nissan leaf - low cost + low range + low charge speed means it’s plugged in to the slowest outlet and you can drive it once every few days. 50kw is too slow for a top up.

Rallying around a luke warm centrist is how we got in this mess in the first place. We need a party that will fight to overturn citizens united, restore roe v wade, prosecute the criminals that stripped this country for their own gain. Not some kindly grandparents that want to give everyone a cookie

Democratic party voters cannot be in solidarity with extremists far lefties who wants to eradicate the Democratic party nationally, all they want is your vote away from actual Democratic nominees, and if they don't get your vote then they tell you not to vote for the Dem nominee to lose agst the GOP

Why is everyone saying we have 2 weeks to impeach? The best time was nine years ago, the second best time is right the f- now.

Covering the planet in solar panels seems (is) really smart right now, but there’s going to come a time when it seems super goofy.

I love how the idea that sloppy devs using AI went viral as the cause for bsky going down. No evidence, pure hype, yet somehow far more appetizing than any shred of the truth.

EVs feel more like disposable smartphones than future classic cars. There's a huge space waiting to be filled by intentional design.

One thing about this Iran war - you don't often see folks separating an aggressive government from the people who live there. Nobody talks about Russian citizens, for example. Just a blind call more sanctions, and the people who are hurt most can suffer. Nice to see advocacy for everyday Iranians.

Man, can you imagine? Every photo of a frog. Every 5 year old’s crayon drawing of a unicorn. A clay vase with a faded glaze? I think I’d just spontaneously combust.
