The persecution of @repilhan.bsky.social just days before an election is vile and politically-motivated. I'm leading 175 House Democrats in denouncing this. When we retake power, we have to seriously look at how we can stop these abuses of power — starting with the power of the purse.

motherfucker have you heard of algebra

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Hey Bay Area peeps, do you like Cheesecake Factory?

derek guy@dieworkwear.bsky.social

When I say I love Cheesecake Factory, I mean this cat who was found malnourished and wandering through a Bay Area mall parking lot. Cheesecake Factory has since been rescued and nursed back to health. He's now healthy, vaxxed, & sweet, but still needs a loving home www.petfinder.com/cat/cheeseca...

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

“I feel that as long as the Shire lies behind, safe and comfortable, I shall find wandering more bearable: I shall know that somewhere there is a firm foothold, even if my feet cannot stand there again.” More later, but my love for LOTR directly led to a Middle Earth invitation & I’m emotional.

We can measure the efficiencies gained by going to more FLOPS, but how do we measure the inefficiencies of language choice, code bloat, OS overhead etc?

Tao Neuendorffer@taonf.bsky.social

Cray-2 was the fastest computer ever built as of 1985, processing at 1.9 gigaflops, or 1.9 billion floating point operations per second (FLOPS) iPhone 17 processes at ~2,073 gigaflops, or 2 trillion FLOPS Cray-2 weighed >5,500 pounds, while the iPhone 17 weighs 6.24 ounces— >14,000 times lighter

When Democrats do well this fall, we’re going to see a lot of “strategists” trying to take credit for their approach. The trans panic people have been nothing but a drag on Democratic momentum and they need to fuck off into the sun

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

Whenever I am frustrated about land use regulation in California I take a deep breath and remember that England exists.

the UK is just cooked. seems like every boomer there has taken up NIMBY as their retirement hobby because god forbid people have access to affordable groceries

Between Green Party members opposing solar farms and whatever the hell Labour is on about these days, I feel like everything I ever thought I knew about UK politics is a filthy lie.
