AES appears to be juicing his own poll numbers- now who does that sound like?

Simon Rosenberg@simonwdc.bsky.social

Lots of responses. A few points: 1) perception AES is the stronger candidate almost entirely due to AES friendly and partisan GOP polls. 2) With Whitmer and other endorsements the race could be moving towards Stevens, away from AES. 3) Wish more of the commentators here was clearly real people.

This is the problem Dems have, The media demands they appease everyone while saying nothing about how Rs demonize most of the nation. .

Dmitry Grozoubinski@explaintrade.com

I also think it's very funny (but not haha funny) that the collective wisdom of "just focus on pocketbook issues!" only ever flows one way. It's never, "shut the fuck up with your insane fantasies about evil trans people and talk about afordability, conservatives!"

FWIW, JB Pritzker recently signed legislation to end subminimum wage labor for people with disabilities, a major priority for disability rights activists.

July marks Disability Pride Month, Illinois. Our state will continue building on the progress that those with disabilities fought for — not retreat from it under this federal administration.

In response to Trump’s speech tonight; Great day to donate to Jon Ossoff’s campaign, or any Dem in swing state or tight races! Talarico inTexas, Sherrod Brown in Ohio , Peltola in Alaska, Josh Turek in Iowa, Roy Cooper in NC, Annie Andrews in SC etc. - Add any Dems we should be looking at!

Two WA things that happen every summer that don’t go well together- festival and construction.

Who's hungry? This weekend's menu features a healthy serving of orange construction, especially in Seattle. - Montlake Blvd will close btwn E Hamlin St and E Louisiana St from 10p Fri to 6a Mon - EB I-90 will close btwn Rainier Ave S and 77th Ave SE from 11:30p Fri to 7:30a Sat

There is one fucking standard for Democrats and another for Republicans created by our supposed unbiased media - this is why people think Democrats aren’t fighting for Democracy- they can’t get heard.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

Four years ago, Biden gave a speech warning about the dangers to democracy and the networks refused to air it because it was "political." I wonder if Trump making a partisan case for relitigating the 2020 election and calling for his political opponents to be jailed is going to be "political" too?

Trump approved disaster aid requests from six red states last week. Two days later, he rejected aid requests from four blue states. Not only is he punishing states who didn’t vote for him, he’s playing politics with people’s lives. Despicable.

My dear Asian brothers and sisters. Y’all were being played with this “StopAAPI Hate” nonsense. It was a Stephen Miller op. And now you are facing a boycott. See how the white devils turn us against each other? Just stop shooting and profiling us, we’d be cool.

Co-sign. If you want my support - show me you play well with others. Whining about ‘establishment’ dems is not it.

Jaime Harrison@jaimeharrison.bsky.social

It never happens with GOP, but too damn often in our party folks try to build themselves up by tearing Dems down. You can demand better from us without pissing all over the house we’ve built together. I’m sick of it. If you make a name for yourself by trashing the party, I’m calling you out.

Long before Trump they were working to preserve GOP/ oligarchs power

Josh Chafetz@joshchafetz.bsky.social

The discourse around the Supreme Court term would be much improved, I think, if people focused on the center of the Court as being very much part of the GOP coalition, rather than focusing entirely on whether it is or is not doing Trump’s bidding specifically.

I want Palestinian liberation. I want safety and equality and freedom for both peoples. I am terrified that I-P is now "a litmus test" for Ds, when immigration, abortion, civil rights, the court, and the climate were not. Because what I want is not enough for these folks. They want our erasure.

Every time those of us who are practical told you this, you told us to shut up. Now you are demanding we listen to you again and find you the magical Democrat that has the perfect message that appeals to everyone but never needs to fundraise but will also kowtow to your special interests.

Trump and Republicans radically raised health insurance premium costs -- doubling them on average -- and so 5 million Americans who used to have health insurance now can't afford it. More than half the people who have this kind of health insurance live in GOP districts: www.npr.org/2026/06/26/n...

A cisgender straight guy screaming in Scott Wiener’s face and telling him that even though he passes great bills on LGBT issues, he “does not deserve to be at” the Trans March that he’s been attending for 22 years because he’s a YIMBY is a perfect symbol of the modern day SF “left.”

Not even just complex issues! Social media wants to reduce people and food choices into simplistic buckets.

David Roberts@volts.wtf

7. I really hate how social media reduces complex issues to team sports, pro & con, good & evil, thus relieving everyone of the burden of actually learning anything or grappling honestly with trade-offs. You don't have to do that! You can hashtag-resist.

I also want to point that Dems helped get this passed even through it would be a political win for Rs. Something Rs have not done for Ds (ex. Border bill anything Obama tried to pass) both sides are not the same.

Do you know how hard it is to get a bipartisan housing bill passed? Congress fought for it. Both sides. Got it done. And Trump just checked out. Didn’t show. We refuse to let this get buried in the news cycle. Americans deserve better than this. #TrumpsHousingCrisis

Sure let’s let RFK jr decide who should get grants.

the EU announcing them expanding ocean monitoring which led to more pushback. All that pressure is what gave Merkley and Murkowski the standing to move their bill (the “Save Our Sensors” / Saving the OOI Act), which passed the Senate by unanimous consent on June 17. The NSF reversed the next day

By the way this took a group effort. Our electeds helped but they needed public support to get it done- It was a multi-pronged approach on multiple fronts. From Dworkin in the comments- Lots of people contacted Congress. That was the main pressure point for sure. Scientists did a PR …..
