It’s Ravenloft time! The Editioning continues with AD&D 1st Edition. I’m a player in this one and very excited I am to play not one but two characters in this classic adventure. Check out my blog post about the first session. thedicepool.com/2026/10/17/t...
AD&D 2E RAW? Don’t think anyone ever did that, actually. I’m trying, but it’s hard to fit all those mechanics into an investigation module. That’s what this week’s post is about as I continue the Editioning. thedicepool.com/2026/10/10/t...
Been reading some OSE modules recently and couldn’t help but compare them to the D&D adventures of yore. thedicepool.com/2026/10/03/o...

I have THOUGHTS about picking the right TTRPG system for the right game time/energy level. It doesn't feel like something folk talk about though? As if they find a game they like and try to squeeze it into every time slot they can. But like, you wouldn't eat a steak for every meal, would you?
I tend to mix it up a bunch and tailor the games to the time we're playing: - Mid-week night? System-light episodic narrative games. - Friday night? Relaxed beer-and-pretzles adventure/dungeon crawls. - Day long session? Big meaty game with lots of detailed roleplay and maybe crunchy systems.

We're getting there. My favourite 101 TTRPGs reach 20-11. A bunch of epic games in here, and also some less so. My big teenage campaign. And more! #ttrpg
I feel like I’ve just been punished by WotC for trying to create a D&D 3rd edition character. The process was the punishment… thedicepool.com/2026/09/28/t...

New post on the dice pool dot com! I needed a couple of sessions in our Star Trek Adventures game that were not part of the published campaign so we had an R&R episode and a haunted ship episode. thedicepool.com/2026/09/20/w...
Surprise on the dice pool dot com. AD&D 2nd edition’s Surprise rule to be exact. I had to get this one off my chest. It’s so completely player-unfriendly. Also, there’s an update on our Planescape adventure. thedicepool.com/2026/09/12/t...

More Star Trek Adventures musings today on thedicepool.com. We had a fun filler episode this week, in which we contended with the system’s advancement mechanic. I wanted to discuss it because I haven’t come across a similar one before. thedicepool.com/2026/09/06/s...

#StarTrekAdventures 2e character generation at The Dice Pool. Spoilers: It's an Orion!
I made a Star Trek Adventures character and wrote a blogpost about it! It was a fun experience which actually taught me a lot about the game we recently started playing. If you’re interested to meet Mesh, my Orion Star Fleet Lieutenant, click on the link! thedicepool.com/2026/08/23/s...

Our Planescape adventure continues as part of the Editioning. The PCs found what they were looking for, kind of. Today, I’m taking a look at the XP awards in AD&D 2E and the possibility for fun in D&D investigations. thedicepool.com/2026/08/01/t...

We played DCC on DCC Day this year! I planned it and it happened. Whaddayaknow? We haven’t finished it yet but I have been putting the PCs through a real meat grinder with DCC # 109, Beneath the Isle of the Serpents. I did a post about it: thedicepool.com/2026/07/21/d...

It’s my (blog’s) 2nd birthday today! 🎉 so today I investigate the historical origins of the Editioning (our challenge to play all D&D editions) in an old post from July 2024. I also recap our latest session of Planescape. Enjoy! thedicepool.com/2026/07/14/t...

We finished the Keep on the Borderlands last week. I was surprised by how much I ended up liking it. It felt over-hyped to me before we played. I get it now. Check out my latest post on the blog: thedicepool.com/2026/07/06/t...

New post on the dice pool dot com! We finished up our OD&D campaign last night. I had a lot of fun with this one. I created the adventure from scratch and used the oldest of old school rules to run it. thedicepool.com/2026/06/20/t...
Our game of OD&D is coming to an end, for good or bad. I use today’s post to discuss revealing and discovery of plot in a dungeon crawl/ hex crawl like this. Also, we’ve got our session 0 for AD&D Planescape adventure, tonight, as the Editioning continues! thedicepool.com/2026/06/14/t...
