That wasn’t anyone at Valve. It was an improvement to Apple Mail. Also in the 27 OSes: compatibility with Bluesky’s codes.

Joni Korpi@jonikorpi.com

Whoever at @valvesoftware.com added support for autofilling Steam Guard codes from macOS/iOS Mail: thank you! … now could we also get standard 2FA instead of this email and dedicated app stuff? Or passkeys?

How dare other people have nicer looking sites than me? Don’t they know how much it distracts me from reading there posts?

Witchsky is great, but starting a domain with "w" means that Firefox helpfully recommends all the sites using the "www" subdomain first.

You could easily plug Python's Jinja or PHP's Twig into Eleventy. Not sure why you would, but you could. What I am saying is that it's like the best thing since arrow functions.

Also, remember Babel? Am I showing my privilege of working at a place that targets baseline available only?

Also also, remember Coffeescript? To this day I think of it fondly. God, I just gave myself big nostalgia.

As a sidenote, remember when arrow functions first became available in babel? Holy shit we were eating good. Migrating from Coffeescript wasn't so bad anymore.

Risky opinion of the day: Resident Evil 5 and 6 are terrible RE games. They are a fun co-op game though. Among the best. And don't tell me that "everything is fun with friends." Not everyone can be that lucky.

Time to out myself as a mark: I pay for YouTube Premium. Yeah, point and laugh. Worse yet, YouTube has a policy that restricts you to one video playback at a time as a Premium subscriber. Seemingly they are trying to enforce it now, but it's buggy.€14.99 for a worse experience, what a steal.

The year of JPEG XL in the browser.

Firefox for Web Developers@webdevs.firefox.com

Firefox 158 landed today! For web devs: 🎉 JPEG XL support, including full progressive rendering. 🎉 'navigate' on notifications, so they can go to a URL without firing events. 🎉 WebGPU's float32-blendable 🎉 WebGL's EXT_polygon_offset_clamp And more! developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/M...

very fun to look in the logs for things and find that people are just probing the shit out of it looking for secrets

The Excavation of Hob's Barrow is a staggering all-time high 65% off on Steam! 💀⛏️🩸 It's the perfect time to check out our folk horror adventure set on the moors of Northern England. The answers lie in the soil...

You know that feeling when you wake up and think "I want my TV to do more than take a display cable in and show images?" No? Yeah, me neither.

Finished Nighthawks. It’s gonna be a weekend of post series depression. What an excellent game.

Yes, I have been staring at an staring at an unedited first draft for 5 hours. No, I did not get any editing done. Anyway, how is your day going?

I assume we will still get new capabilities. Things that browsers couldn't do before irrespective of how much code you wrote. But who is going to ask map(), filter(), find(), and friends when an LLM is just as happy to write for loops?

It just seems sort of sad. Also, less opportunities to flex the superiority of Rust 🦀

It also gave me a sort of weird sadness. This sort of thing — nerding out about programming languages — is like going to become much less prevalent as AI coding reduces the amount of code we read. It worries me that we might see a slowdown in language development.

An LLM will never complain about something being awkward in a language or strangely absent from the standard library. The voices asking for additional development in those areas will likely be fewer.

Is the game making a joke? Is it a bug? I am the type of person that developers hate. I think the context should make it clear, but my neurons are not firing properly. Loving Nighthawks though. What a game.

Duality of Hornet (and i love her for that) I love how serious and cool hornet is most of the time and then when she does the parachute she's like just hanging out there lol. Its so adorable. #silksong

Terminator: Resistance is a super fun AA shooter that we don’t get enough of anymore. People say good things about RoboCop and that will probably be my next pick up.

Even with Steam dominating and physical media having been dead on PC for a long time. The openness of the platform itself allows things to be less dire than an PlayStation ecosystem without physical media.

Discontinuing the PlayStation 3 store has ramifications in accessibility of games, that shutting down Steam wouldn't have.
