"No one is suggesting that you bike through White Juan while fighting polar bears with your u lock as you cross the Macdonald." I'm suggesting that, but... watch Kevin's video anyway. His content is great & if you're on the fence about winter cycling... this may be the nudge you need. #bikehfx
Hey. Hi. Hello. In the latest HFX By Bike I talk about winter cycling in Halifax. With weather data, international bike counter comparisons and fit checks. youtu.be/ftOroV7XZz8?...
I don't think there's a world in which I complete this, and that's fine by me. These challenges may work for some folks, but it's really done little more than burn me out on the genre, which I tend to watch more at this time of year anyway. Plus, *in my best Rosa Diaz voice* who's got the time?
🧵 Gonna try to do #100HorrorMoviesIn92Days this year. Here’s my thread. 💀😱🔪

What a shocking concept... Cars are generally also anti-community. They put you in a bubble & your state of mind is one where where you compete w/ others to get where you're going as quickly as possible. This leads to poor decisions: running reds, blocking AT pathways & sidewalks, and far worse.
Maybe the vehicular congestion is caused by *gasp* too many cars?
As a result of this thread, I discovered that PTH are touring in support of their new album. Tickets acquired for early November. Will I survive a night at the Marquee as a newly minted 43 year-old? Stay tuned!
Protest The Hero Prog metal straight outta Whitby, ON. Fun videos. A band of virtuosos. Compelling lyrics. It's very difficult for me to pick just one song of theirs, but this was probably their biggest single and is a decent entry point to the band.

I've seen so much live music and enjoyed so much art during my life, and so much of it has been in all-ages clubs, bars-as-venues, nightclubs, and generally smaller-than-stadium venues. Since I've always lived in Canada, that means much of the acts I've seen have also been Canadian. Here goes.
This is SUCH a dangerous road for me to go down. Mid-90s to mid-00’s Canadian music, especially east coast and the parts of southern Ontario that don’t identify as Toronto. Pinning this for myself to overshare later. Be prepared for jangly guitars, beeps and boops, SOMETIMES lyrics, & genealogy(?!)
The Fullblast ...and now for something completely different. Melodic, thrashy punk rock out of Ontario. Had the immense pleasure of sharing a stage with these fine folks at The Ceilidh Connection ages ago (now Stillwell HQ) as well as attending countless performances. Listen to those triplets!
I Mother Earth Though I've only ever seen them once, I credit IME with shaping a lot of my music tastes. Jagori Tanna was a big reason I wanted to not only play, but improve at guitar. Edwin's lyrics on Dig and Scenery & Fish were compelling. I fell off during the Brian Byrne years.

Julie Doiron Arguably the queen of Canadian indie music. Don't @ me. Well, maybe @ me, I'd love to discuss. Whether she's purveying her own unique indie-folk, bringing the bass in Eric's Trip, or fronting an alt-metal outfit with The Wrong Guys, Julie is fantastic. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCYR...
Timber Timbre I first saw Taylor at The Boat in Toronto, Ontario, and was mesmerized by the fullness of the sound he could make on his own. Just found out he has passed. RIP.

The Wooden Stars Ethereal, dreamy, grungy rock that spoke to me very directly as a young man. If you know Micheal Feuerstack, or have dug into Julie Doiron's (she did an album w/ them and features on the linked track below) catalog, you'll enjoy this band. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl1y...

I was burning out on this challenge. It was becoming difficult to find entries that I didn't just want to turn off partway through. Damaging genre tropes, really poor writing or acting, lack of original ideas or interesting takes on classic ideas. Movies like Oculus are why I keep coming back.
34) Oculus Karen Gillan! Katee Sackhoff! Rory Cochrane! Malevolent entity. Demonic possession. Non-linear experience of time. What a ride. Most interesting entry I've seen in a while. Watch it! #100HorrorMoviesIn92Days www.themoviedb.org/movie/157547...
