happy #smallpoemsunday! 💜 feel free to share small poems you wrote, or ones you love by other poets :) here are a few I love by Leonard Gontarek, from “The Pillow Book of Leonard Gontarek”

I tapped on the icon to view the replies to this knowing for absolute certain that I would be delighted. And I was.

Same pattern in UK polling. YouGov's last big poll on trans issues also indexed respondents' views on other social prejudices, and what do you know - pro-trans respondents were much more likely to recognise misogyny and see it as a problem, anti-trans respondents more likely to dismiss it!

The leading European powers could help Ukraine resolve the issue of Russia's unprovoked invasion within 120 days. If they had the courage to.

The peemanship of this text is uncannily precise ..

Team GB skier Gus Kenworthy has launched a blistering attack on US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers by urinating the words “Fuck Ice” on the snow just before the start of the Winter Olympics. 👏👏👏 #Voices4Victory #DemVoice1 #Pinks #SheShed

To my American friends... There is no country in Europe where the population would put up with this nonsense for more than 24 hours

ICE agent asked why he's taking pictures of a legal observer's car, replies: "Cuz we have a nice little database and now you're considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that."

Oh my goodness. Who would have guessed that times like these could produce a politician who can be in a room with kids without seeming flipping creepy? What a refreshing experience.

No. The two are polar opposites. One group was calling for the overthrow of the state, the other group is calling for people to obey the law. I don't think it's that subtle a distinction

On September 4, 1866, President Andrew Johnson set the precedent for Trump’s latest outrage: In Cleveland, Ohio, Johnson called those who opposed his plan for reversing the Union’s Civil War victory (by reinstating and nationalizing the Confederacy) “traitors” and called for them to be hanged.

Cities thrive not on fear but empathy, on cooperation not division. That's the NYC we know and love. It has found expression in this movement. And it is rising up at the ballot box today. Polls close at 9pm: zohranfornyc.com/vote

Sweet mother of god. What witchcraft is this???

#RecipeOfTheDay is Apple and Blackberry Kuchen, which is rather like a Germanic fruit-topped focaccia. And I should tell you that it’s as wonderful (and more common, actually) made with plums. www.nigella.com/recipes/appl...

I can’t help thinking the parking app world is a vicious turf war. Ringo has taken Devon. Justpark owns Cornwall. There is a battle for Dorset…

So.. I lived in Concord,MA for a while, in a lovely house less than two miles from the North bridge. I remember being told all the stories about how Americans wouldn't stand for kings using soldiers to repress the population. And when I visited the minuteman museum, it was struck by the

Since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine there has not been a single day when decisive action by Europe would not have ended the conflict, with Russia agreeing to pay reparations, within 16 weeks. Europe could resolve this before Christmas. The deal is simple ...

All Putin has to do in order to avoid a truly humiliating and regime-ending defeat is to withdraw from all of Ukraine's territory, which - of course - includes the Crimea, and agree to pay £700bn in reparations. This is nothing more than meeting the obligations entered into

This is terrifying - We have a government that is redefining "terrorism" in order to suppress dissent. The distortion of the meaning of "terrorism" required to proscribe Palestine Action is utterly absurd, and extremely dangerous. I cannot imagine that the UK supreme

Patsy Stevenson@patsystevenson.bsky.social

I spoke on LBC this morning about the mass arrests in London. By proscribing Palestine Action as a “terrorist” organisation, the government has created another tool to shut down protest over Gaza. Now, people are being arrested simply for holding a Palestinian flag.

court (which is where I reckon this is going to end up) won't reverse this absurd decision. And, for the benefit of any illiterate jackasses who might be reading this. I make no comment about my support or otherwise for any organisation in this pair of posts.

In English a cat’s paw pads can be called “toe beans.” In German, I’ve heard them referred to as Zehenbeere, or “toe berries.” In Japanese they are 肉球 (“flesh buns”). Norwegian has tredeputer, or “stepping pillows.” And a colloquial Korean name for them is 냥젤리. It essentially means “meow-gummies.”

So this is one of those "til" moments....having no prior knowledge or what "entemans cake" is... So, out of curiosity, I Google for a recipe....only to find (for the benefit of others) that it's a brand of rather ordinary looking mass-produced cake products. So .. in this context... The bar is low

So, I have just been in receipt of the dirtiest look from a Starbucks cashier... They asked me for a name and I said "Alfonzo" cuz, why not, but then I saw a flicker of recognition in their eyes... I think they may have remembered that yesterday I was "Michele". Woopsie.
