For the last 2 years I’ve been avoiding the news entirely, for hopefully obvious reasons. The little bits that still manage to sneak through (rt’s here, etc) continue to reinforce that decision. For all of our accomplishments we remain a fundamentally awful species.

Finally deleted the Instagram app from my phone. Just too much depraved shit on there these days. Down to only Bsky and Mastodon. And let’s be honest, we all know it’s only a matter of time before this place goes the same way due to the relentless search for the almighty dollar.

Going to VCF Midwest next week? While I'm unable to go, a portion of my vintage computing and game console collection will be! My good friend Steve will be hosting these items for sale at his table (C216/C217), so be sure to go say hi and check them out!

Does anyone out there have a copy of Bob Brant’s book Upgrade Your Macintosh and Save a Bundle? (Note that this is different than the Build book!) I got a former library copy that came without its slipcover, hoping someone is able to scan it! There are NO images of the cover on the Internet.

Hey friends, I’m in need of a new job. No, YouTube doesn’t pay the bills. 😓 If you know anyone who is looking for an experienced product/app Content Designer or UX Writer, please let me know! 🤞 Feel free to DM me or email me any leads. Thanks!

Hey guys! I hate to post this kind of thing, but I figured I would reach out as I am in need of employment. Looking for any engineering/technician related position, willing to relocate down-the-line but not right now until there's enough equity in my house where I can sell it. Let me know!

Was about to buy it, then I got to the checkout and it said tariffs would be $150. Nope.

Anyone out there have a newer Crumpler Brace laptop bag? I’m normally a Timbuk2 guy but my Commute is getting worn out and I’m not crazy about their color options these days. Curious how the Brace may stack up.

I hate how ephemeral the Internet has become. Now it’s starting to affect music. I spent an hour trying to find a place to legally buy a download of an album from 2015, and the only places left are the iTunes Store and Amazon. Nobody has it in lossless, unless I wanna buy a used CD copy from Japan.

Not only was the Supreme Court's Callais decision cynical and wrong, it has now resulted in the Republican governor of Louisiana declaring state of emergency to cancel the ongoing congressional election. If you think this ends in Louisiana or with redistricting, you are not paying attention.

Instead of turning a clock into a vintage Mac, I turned a vintage Mac into a clock!, I though it would be fun given its #MARCHintosh The program can be downloaded here: github.com/retrotheory/... It supports US/EU month day order AM/PM, Invert display, 'grey' background and alarm function

This Does Not Compute@thisdoesnotcompute.bsky.social

You may have heard of Maclock, a cute alarm clock that looks like an original Macintosh. But what if it could actually *be* a Mac? Let’s see what it takes — it’s not as hard as you may think! youtu.be/dRr5iVjMfqs

A massive new voter suppression bill could disenfranchise 21 million Americans before the midterms. The GOP-led campaign to create barriers to voting follows a series of alarming White House statements telegraphing its intent to interfere with the 2026 midterm elections.

democracydocket.comGOP fast tracks monster voter suppression bill that could disenfranchise millions by requiring proof of citizenship at pollsIn the past few weeks, passing the legislation has been a unifying rally cry for Republicans, a welcome distraction from the party’s cratering public opinion polls.

More than the top story, this is something Americans HAVE to take action about — now. Everyone will lose if this goes through.

This should be the top story in all news media Trump has threatened to "take over" voting before the mid-terms He gave the GOP explicit instructions to nationalize voting He is planning to cheat

Pay attention to this. Do not let up on the pressure, demand accountability and change until the root cause has been resolved. Anything short of that means failure.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.” That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
