Nein.

I never thought that I'd side with Adobe's interests in a case.

Holy shit. Someone has decompiled the Adobe suite, rebuilt it in Rust and released it as open source. Either all software is dead or the US copyright laws are about to receive an update. getartcraft.com/apps

Volles Programm. Das wär doch mal was.

Replying to @tante.cc

a lot freaks me out about AI but 0% of my anxiety is about AGI. i think this is the part that freaks me out the most right now -- the many many indications that no one is at the wheel and no adults are present

AnthrOpenAI Employee: "No really, AI will probably kill us soon. It's so powerful." Me: "And what are you doing for work?" AntrOpenAI Employee: "Build bigger and bigger AI." Me: "Did a horse kick you in the head or something?"

I am willing to take AnthrOpenAI's warnings abut "the AI might kill us" seriously and not laugh at these people when they actually stop building these systems that supposedly endanger humanity. Those folks are members of a doomsday cult and need therapy and help, not space in tech reporting.

The Kids are alright!

"AI" is inevitable, it's just here now is what we get told. We also get told that "AI" mustn't be properly regulated or everything goes to shit. These two statements are not consistent.

You have the luxury of setting that goal for yourself. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that's not gonna work on larger teams since management/C level will always prefer just faster. In the end, that's why they pay a lot of money to LLM providers instead of their employees.

We all agree that AI can make software worse, much worse. But it can also make software better! I have, once again, blogged:
