I bought an e-bike this week. Today I rode two miles for strawberry rhubarb pie with icecream and a cup of coffee. I haven't ridden a bike in a decade. Pedal assist ebike is awesome to help assist my lack of fitness but still make biking plausible. Especially that extra oomf around cars

I'm learning how to sew/make my own clothes. I've been fighting my machine the whole time. Took an in-person class where they walked me through my machine, and it worked great at the class, but still sucked at home. NONE OF THE BEGINNER TUTORIALS MENTIONED HOW YOU REALLY NEED TO BUY QUALOTY THREAD!

and I have made SHORTS! They're a lot like my face, fine at a glance but the closer you look the worse it gets, but they're done and they fit. I made a bunch of mistakes, had to seam rip the entire waistband off at one point, but I made a thing I didn't know how to make two days ago.

Hell yea, starting to look like shorts. But I gotta work in the morning so the completion will have to be a tomorrow project. They're not perfect. The fabric is kind of annoying. Finding good apparel fabric is surprisingly difficult. At this rate I'll be raising sheep & hand building a fucking loom.

Button holes are hard. I think the feed feet are sliding on the interface tape cause it's kinda smooth. I have to move it along, but not TOO much or it overshoots.

Like fucking seriously. Not having shitty thread makes this hobby a fucking delight. I'm about to be a fucking seamstress n' shit.

Another box checked. Joined a band and did an open mic tonight! Learned 8 songs in two weeks(only played two tonight, but the others were for band practice last Friday) now I've got another 2 or 3 to learn this week. Progress is happening!

I bought an android drawing tablet, and now I have made an art. Made with Krita and an idiot fucking around with random brushes until a blob looked like a thing. #fuckAI

Yay, I got the color passthrough camera add-on for my Steam Frame!...... and I'm waitlisted to order the actual Steam Frame. I hope i get it in the next two years 😢

I'm curious how long until other operating systems are running on it like SimulaOS. And if other hardware manufacturers will get in on the game similar to what happened with the steam deck.

*in a very bad Talking Heads impression* And then, he puts on Exercise clothes. And then, he tells himself he'll Exercise today. Ladies and gentlemen who's willing to be he does. Who here will become rich upon the will power or lethargy of this obese man. The betting, starts, NOW!

Lol, I stopped by the Santa Ana mall to kill time till my concert tonight. Entered through macy's, got into the mall proper $250 poorer, but got some nice new dress shirts for work. This mall is balls hot though. In-door mall, but it's got so many skylights it might as well be a green house.

And it's official, Mongo, the bass player for All Monster Revue, passed away. Sad to see, but if you gotta go, that's a hell of a way. Certainly left an impression on me as that was my first exposure to them and the couple of songs they made it through were great. www.instagram.com/p/Db4sU-rlN6c/

Well fuck. Brick by Brick, my favorite concert venue in San Diego, is shutting down. Tonight was the last Friday concert, and the bass player of the second band collapsed onstage. Rest of the show canceled. When I left they had been doing chest compressions for over 20 minutes. 🙁

I hate this crap at work. These are my options in my career/goal setting. I don't want to do any of that shit. I do not dream of labor. I want to work on comfortable assignments that don't stress me out too much and have my raises keep up with inflation.

Today's side quest. While looking for a fuzz pedal I decided I liked the Elder God, which is technically just a fuzz face and a green Russian muff with a blend knob. It's over $200. Or I can get a fuzz face clone kit and a green muff clone kit and make DIY parallel jfet buffer circuit for $120....

I'm starting to think "researching DIY split keyboard designs" might be a depression indicator for me. It satisfies both "starting a new project, spending money on myself, AND a justifiable productivity/health purchase"

And, as always, fucking bsky not having enough characters. They're barely a skeet. More of a dribble really. I'm not into the whole brevity thing man.

Why is it I can actively see my reduced mental capacity, mood, and health when I don't get enough sleep, and then CONTINUALLY. NOT. GO. TO. SLEEP!?

I'm going to sing and play in a band on stage for the first time in two weeks, and the days I practice after not sleeping enough I'm constantly frustrated as I blank out, forget words, and my mind wanders WHILE SINGING, and my temper is noticeably shorter as I get angry with myself.

While the days I do get enough sleep, I nail it, feel better about my accomplishment, and more hopeful for the future. AND THEN STILL NOT GET ENOUGH SLEEP! Being alive is fucking stupid. Also, I didn't get enough sleep last night and I'm grouchy.

Today is an excellent day to zero out one of your email box's and then spend the next few days unsubscribing from everything as it comes in. I hope you find a subscription you didn't know you were paying for and get some money back.

I continue to pay for guitar lessons despite being in a depressive slump and having no interest in doing anything creative at all. My guitar is sitting it's case where I left it two weeks ago after my last lesson. But if I cancel my lessons it'll be another 5 years before I pick it back up again.

It's Saturday night and instead of going out and trying to rebuild some kind of social life Im sitting in the bath listening to music and whining to the void. I'm in my 40s. I had hoped this shit would be over by now. Writing sad sack shit on my livejournal.

Was the post stupid? Yes. Did it result in the funniest gathering of disparate Bluesky members to join together as a community to go, "wat?" Also yes. Did it also work to perfectly highlight that the mute function is broken for both fathers day and mothers day. Also yes Keep on skeetin @bsky.app

See, this is why I like @kagi.com search. This is AI done properly. It doesn't show up unless I click it, it recognizes this is medical advise & gives a good disclaimer encouraging seeking real medical attention, & best of all, it gives references with links to where it pulled all the information

I generally loath AI and how it's been shoved down our throats. But I loath the miserable landscape of internet searches for anything medical related as well, so thought I'd glance at the opt-in only AI summary. It's literally the first time I've touched kagi AI in the year+ I've been using kagi.

That said, the first linked reference with the highest percentage of data appears to be AI generated itself, mostly targeted at selling the sites business, and the paper that site cites is a single study of a unique case of a young mexican woman. So like all AI, verify for yourself.

Someone asked me what my poetry is about. I replied: “People.” They said: “That’s a broad subject.” I said: “Not really. It’s the same story every time. Someone trying to be free. Someone trying to be loved. Someone trying to survive.” Anyway, I put a few hundred pages of that story into a book.
